New Truck Lead Times?
Has anyone ordered a new HD truck from one of the big three recently. I wonder what the lead times are at this time. Thanks!

Probably long. We are surprised at the low number of trucks and cars on the dealers lots. makes me wonder how the car sales people are making a living.

Same in northeast Florida - Running errands the last few days I drove past a Ram dealer, a Chevy dealer and a Ford dealer. There was a big empty area where trucks used to be in all 3 dealerships.
They had what I would describe as 60% normal inventory. The used lots seemed about 80%.

This will likely depend on the chosen equipment and future delays due to shipping, covid, container availability etc.
Barebones models (for the few that exist) are easier to fulfill than the ones with super cruise, warp drive and cloaking ability.
What I'm also hearing is OEMs are deciding what is more profitable too, such as keeping certain parts to fulfill the high end $$$$$ models vs building two lowly models.
3 to 6 months on average is what I heard up here.
FWIW my GF just signed a promisory note on a 2022 Bolt EUV. Should arrive in late April!

Depending on you wish list and if your willing to drive 1000 miles to pick up something new that you have never seen, YOU can find something on a lot in the next few weeks. If your set on your options , color and make your most likely going to be 16+ weeks. There is some Ram on the lot at Tasca in RI , the GM dealer across the street has maybe 3 trucks now. this time last year they had 50 and 15 months ago they had 250 trucks.

Gm suspended production of the hd trucks so who knows. I ordered one In June and it still hadn’t been sent to production end of August so I found one out of state and flew to get it.

I had a deposit on a 3500HD Duramax for about 3 months. Was told it was being built that week. Next week it was being built that week. Went on for about a month and was then told it was built but awaiting a chip. Same story for 3 weeks. This week I was told that everything was in limbo and there was no info as to when I might get the truck. Found one about 200 miles away that the dealer told me would be on the lot Oct. 6. Was sent a build sheet that included a VIN. The previous dealer could never furnish a VIN yet said the unit was built. I cancelled the first order and put a deposit on the second. I guess I'll know in a week or so.

IF and WHEN the backlog of chips ever catches up with the orders, there's going to be a flood of trucks hitting the market. The big three have throttled back on the production line to try to sync back up with the market. Remember these chip markers make chips for all kinds of products not just cars and trucks. When they do start to get production back up to speed, the manufacturers will be making some great deals on this inventory to get it off the storage lots. I for one wouldn't order a new truck as it could take some serious time to get one delivered.

I was at Daytona Beach Auto Mall. I saw a bunch of nice Ram heavy duty trucks. They must of have 20 with a nice maroon dually out front. I had a car in for service at the Nissan dealer at the Auto Mall and had to drive by the Ram dealer.
The ocean water is still 82 degrees. Fly into Daytona Airport and enjoy the beach - the last few weeks to beach. Drive a Ram truck home.

Thanks for comments everyone. It feels like time is on my side as no need for the truck until March or so. If I don't get one on order I can look at traveling to pick one up with a bit of luck, especially if some chips start coming through.

Surprised today, I received confirmation of the ordering of my truck. I even have a VIN#. The dealership thinks that I may have it by sometime in January.

I put a deposit on a new one that was supposed to be at the dealer Oct. 6. Chev. Web pages even show it in transit with a VIN#, window sticker, options, price, etc. I have financing and all paperwork already done. Was told on the 5th that it was loaded on a truck in Denver for transport to Delta, CO. a distance of about 290 miles. As of today it is still not at the dealer. I think that there are more issues than just chips and builds. Transportation and everything else has just slowed down to a crawl.
