Original Hensley versus Propride 3p

I will have a long tow 32 foot trailer 37 plus overall length. I will put up with the price point pain and buy a Hensley style hitch. Is there really much difference between the original Hensley hitch and the Propride 3p. In the end can it be a decision based on price

ProPride is an improved Hensley. Easier to hook up.

Hitch

Sign up on the www. Airforums.com website. Then do a search for extensive discussions on both hitches.

The PP has an adjustable stinger. The HA does not and you have to order the proper stinger drop. You won't be able to dial it in as easy.

The hensley will come with whatever
Drop you want...knowing that going in
Is important. There is a learning curve
Hooking up the arrow..but its not hard
Just different than what your used to.
Its all about the angle of the stinger...pitch and yaw.

Patience and give yourself some time the first
Few times you hook it up.. A back up camera is nice.
They are both great hitches...spendy and heavy..
But most of that weight stays on the camper not the truck.

I bought a used PP almost a decade ago and am still using it today. 26 ft TT (33 ft total) with F250. It has been trouble-free. You can regularly find them for sale used as people migrate to 5th wheel, motorhome, etc. I can't recall ever seeing one for sale b/c somebody was switching back to a "standard" WDH.
As owner of a used unit, I've still benefited from what I would describe as world-class customer service when I did have a minor issue.

Just installed a new ProPride on my 30' Airstream. It's really hard to justify the price (almost $4k) unless you've already had one (my previous AS had one and the new owner negotiated it into the deal). I can't really tell you what the difference between a ProPride and Hensley are, except the ProPride is based on the original Hensley design with what many agree are significant improvements.

Second the above recommendation go to to airforums dot com and look at all the discussions there. I believe Hensley still has a lifetime warranty and people get new parts/replacements no matter how old they are. ProPride has excellent customer/technical support. The guy I spoke to gave me his personal cell number to call for help since I would be 800 miles from home installing my hitch over a weekend. Nothing but good things to say about ProPride. Make sure you order a unit with the V2 jacks, much improved over the originals especially if you run across a used unit. If you do find a used one that has the original jacks, I think you can upgrade easily.
