Payload capacity on a diesel F350 SRW?

Anybody with a crew cab, long bed, single rear wheel F350 with a 6.7L diesel...
Would you mind looking at the sticker on the doorframe and telling me your payload capacity?

While I'm at it, is your GVWR 12400 or some other number?
4x4 or 4x2?
XL. XLT, Lariat, king ranch, platinum, etc.?

I want to compare the payload to what I have on my gas truck

Mine is:
2020 F350 SRW crew cab, 8 foot bed, 4x4, lariat, 7.3L gas, GVWR 11400, payload 3859.

Thanks

Thanks NickInCO

good question, Trvltrash.

I'm looking for the number on the yellow sticker, not the axle rating that goes into the math behind the yellow sticker number.

The axle weight rating should be on the blue sticker on the doorframe near the yellow sticker with the payload number.

My 7.3L gas truck has a 7230 rear gawr.

I have a 2020. I don't think the payload ratings have changed with a 21 or 22. My long bed Platinum with the 6.7 has a yellow sticker payload of 4054 pounds. I ordered it without the sun roof or the FX4 package to give me a little more capacity.

My 2021 f350 Platinum diesel CC 4x4 is a shortbox. The GVWR is 11500 lbs. Payload sticker says 3296 lbs.... rear axle is 7230 and empty weight of rear axle is 3470 lbs including B&W Companion. As far as I'm concerned I'm good for a fiver with about a 3750 lb pin weight.

Gas vs Diesel
Same trucks/same trim/same GVWR etc

Gas will ALWAYS have more Payload Rating
But doesn't really matter......axle weights are the deciding factor

I'm using these numbers to try to figure out a realistic offset between the doorframe sticker cargo capacity and the maximum payload listed in the Ford spec sheet. I expect the spec sheet numbers are base vehicles without all nice stuff we put in our lariats, platinums, etc.

At the bottom of the note is a table of the trucks listed and the spec sheet number for that truck

Here's how I interpret these numbers and the spec sheet see page 6.
  • Crew cab SHORT bed F350 SRW trucks in the lariat/platinum range have a sticker payload capacity a little over 600 pounds less than the idea numbers in the spec sheet.
  • Crew cab LONG bed F350 SRW trucks in the lariat/platinum range have a sticker payload capacity a little over 500 pounds less than the ideal numbers in the spec sheet.
  • Comparing JDT to Tim_T, the diesel truck weighs ~800lbs more than the gas truck, but that is offset by 1000lbs higher GVWR on the diesel, resulting in a slightly larger payload capacity on the diesel. Unless the truck is ordered with a reduced gvwr for tax, registration, other reasons.

More data would be nice, but this is what I can glean from 4 trucks and a lot of reading of the specifications.

Ultimately the best answer is to weigh the rig, figure rear axle loading, don't exceed the rear GAWR.

X2
https://fordbbas.com/publications
Then click on "vehicle specifications"
then click on "show more"
this brings up 2014 thru 2021 year models your interested in.

What so great about Fleet Ford specs is it gets into specs of components with dimensional numbers like axle diameters/spline numbers/brake dimensions/etc.
Lots to look thru.

Now if GM and Dodge/Ram would give us the same type specs.......

wow, nice info source. I wish I'd had that 2 years ago when I was ordering my current truck. Its splits the hairs a little more finely than the spec sheet I previously linked.

It does not however include the info I'm trying to get at in this thread. How much payload capacity do you lose when you option up from the ideal case in the spec sheet to a lariat, king ranch or platinum.

2018 F350 Limited

4x4, crew cab, long wheel base, single rear wheel. The Limited version has almost all of the possible options.

GVWR 11,500
Front GAWR 5,600
Rear GAWR 7230
Payload 3234

Weighing truck with full fuel, driver, bed liner, and Andersen Hitch, but no tools, dogs, etc = 8480

Note that the sum of front and rear axle weight rating is substantially more than the GVWR.

At the top of 2014 tru 2021 page is a clicky to Fords ARC (Accessory Reserve Calculations) which I think maybe a website for weights of options. It asks for a pass word...maybe Ford truck guys may know what in it.
