Payload Discrepancies
We will never tow anything big enough to matter and i really don’t go by payload but instead use tire and axle ratings but yesterday bought a new Suburban and the yellow tire sticker says load no more than 751 lbs and the other sticker says payload is 16xx (crs) and 800 max tongue weight. Best that i can figure is yellow is accounting for max trlr toungue weight.

Weights get me confused all to easy. But for simplicity sake, use the lesser of the 2 and just play it safe!

The 16XX payload is probably correct. So, passengers, luggage, haulage, tongue weight etc added together must be less than 16XX.
Tongue weight is limited by the trailer hitch or hitch receiver. Tongue weight is applied behind the rear wheels so takes weight off of front wheels and applies it to rear wheels.
A weight distribution hitch can move weight back onto front wheels.
Tire capacity may be per tire. So two tires on rear axle may be 751 X 2 = 15XX.
Payload includes some weight on front wheels so 16XX payload is still possible.
Different models use different components. Individual components have individual capacities. Adding component capacities does not always equal total capacities.
If you are pushing capacity limits, you need to measure more parameters to insure you do not exceed component capacities. You may not wish to use payload capacity, but exceeding it will still increase risk.
https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/chev...pecifications/
"1. For comparison purposes only. See the owner's manual and the label on the vehicle door jamb for the carrying capacity of a specific vehicle."
"2. Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully review the Trailering section of the Owner’s Manual. The weight of passengers, cargo and options or accessories may reduce the amount you can tow."

Easiest way I know to find true payload is weigh the vehicle empty then subtract that number from the GVWR.

I agree, but the manufacturer has already done this for you. The load sticker is just using the GVWR, and subtracting the actual wt of vehicle, as shipped. What you add after, comes off their sticker number. As OP stated, axle/tire ratings matter.
The OPs new Burb is showing a low payload, likely due to being loaded with options. Kind of silly to imply a large vehicle, capable of carrying many passengers, can only carry just 751 lbs.
It seems the burbs are known for low wt receiver hitch capabilities. It makes me wonder, are these receiver hitches really that light duty, or is GM just not wanting you to load the vehicle, and then add 1,200 lbs more on the hitch?

Whats funny is the sticker with the 751 lbs says all passengers, cargo etc. the thing seats 7 which means some pretty light passengers.

Yep; this. It's not hard and eliminates the guesswork. A suburban may not be as bad but many add hundreds of lbs to their trucks and don't think of the impact; bumpers, winches, racks, bedliners/matts, mudflaps, toolboxes, etc. etc.
Put in a full tank of fuel, load it up as you would normally travel and run it across the scales. Deduct from the GVWR and voila! now you know what you can carry within the vehicle's ratings.

That is GM's idea of a joke. So did it come with 2-ply tires under such a huge vehicle? Good luck in finding 7 anorexic people!

Maybe the yellow sticker is 751 KGs and the other sticker is 1656 lbs.

Can you snap a pic of that sticker and post it here? Never seen a "load no more than" mention on one.
