You are kidding Right ? I have no dog in the fight about the big three. I don't own a truck anymore but work on all of them. But to say the Cummins is nothing special is uneducated. The Cummins is classified as a Medium duty Diesel. The others are ALL Classified as light duty diesels. The motor has been around for many many years and has been in service in School Buses, Semi's, Generators, Pumps, Boats, Light Heavy equipment, Etc. Etc... and has been improved upon regularly. If you ever saw them all apart in front of you the differences are apparent even to a layman. And many exceed 1,000,000 miles and have million mile clubs . Not something you see with the other two. The Cummins by far is the best motor you can put in a pickup truck now. The rest of the truck.....Personal preference

I have a 2016 chevy duramax pull a carbon 38' TH. We go from mn to fl every spring it is an awesome truck set the cruise and forget engine managment is awesome hills shifts right on que 70 mph pulling about 13000lbs get 9 to 10 mpg. Engine brake is great tap brake engine does the rest. Empty 19 to 22 mpg. Stealth module helps with gas pedal turbo spool lag. Def not a big of issue as everyone makes it out to be couple jugs every 2000 miles more when pulling. Only issue 2 def tanks. Live in northern mn -30 degree winters. Been covered under warranty. I guess a little voltage variations trips engine light. Also diesel fuel is usually 40 to 50 cent higher $100 to change oil. Parts are twice as much so get extended warranty.

No im not kidding, i have to drive them every day. Cummins are gutless and in my experience not very reliable. That "medium duty" rating was debunked ages ago. You could get the t444e (7.3 psd), vt365 (6.0), maxxforce 7 (6.4psd), 6.7psd, and 6.6 duramax all in medium duty trucks. The only thing theyre not available for is industrial applications.

I just don’t understand your hatetread of the Ram/Cummins, I sold our 2001 2500 with 315,000 mile only because we were going to a single vehicle and she didn’t want to daily drive a 5 speed manual.

One of the biggest money makers out there is/was the 6.0/6/4 bullet proofing business.

All the new diesels are good. My 06 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9 Cummins has been bullet proof. No trans problems either. Bought it new and out of the 123k miles on it 100k were towing. I went to a Ford Powerstoke this time because I liked the gas engine like performance. Also my wife wanted a mega cab but I wanted a 8 foot bed. It had 13400 miles on it and has been great. The Cummins is probably the best diesel out there. The Powerstoke and the Duramax are great also. They all don't like long idling and putting around town. They all pull like freight trains and get good fuel mileage for the massive amount of torque these diesels make.
