Pro Trailer Backup Assist

I have a 20 F250 with the Pro Trailer backup assist and with the 5th wheel prep package. My bumper pull trailer tongue has issues that make sticker placement a problem. The camera loses sight of the sticker frequently. Has anyone tried to use the 5th wheel sensor that comes with the 5th wheel prep package with a bumper pull trailer?

Hello,

I just bought a new 2021 F350 with backup assist. When I asked about the sticker to place on the travel trailer, the dealer told me that you have to use a module now for TTs. I am not sure if the module used for 5ers is the same as the one for TTs. I don't have my TT yet so I haven't looked into it yet. I do have a small utility trailer that I want to set up but I sure don't want to have to buy a module for it so I hope I can make the sticker work anyway...

Regards,

John

From wHat I've read, many have had some limited success with the sticker. Mine works well for long straight backups, but when I try much of a turn, the camera loses it. The question would be if Ford disabled the sticker capability in your software. With other time commitments at the moment, I haven't been able to try my sensor module on my trailer yet.

I’m not 100% certain but I believe the module for the bumper pull is on the F150. My ‘21 f350 came with the fifth wheel module and wiring harness and in addition there are several stickers for a bumper pull in with the owners manual.

I watched a you tube video on a guy installing the module on his 21 F150, It has the same Ford part number as the one I got with my 20 F250 with the 5th wheel prep package.

If I can dodge the raindrops enough today, I plan to try a test install on my FC 28 to see how it goes.
