I just purchased a new fiver and it has the Provider ST E tires. Yes they are the china tires and it seems that is the country RV tires are coming from. Has anyone got that brand and how are they doing. If I need to change out, what brand would be better? Thanks for your time

Typically China Bombs will last 1 or 2 years from new. My 5er had China bombs and one blowout in the 3rd year. I switched to Michelin XPS Ribs LT tires.

A new(ish) tire that so far seems good is the Goodyear Endurance ST tires with a higher than 65 mph speed rating.

Oh, my blowout did not hurt the skirting on the 5er. I was lucky as I have seen about 6 blowouts that ripped up the side of the 5er.

Hi, not all China tires are bombs. If you do the research instead of believing blanket statements, you will find some good stuff out there. The ones I have are not anywhere near the typical cheap China bombs that are often used. I put Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G which is a 14 ply tire and have been very pleased. I can not say anything about the specific tire you are mentioning.

I failed to mention that the Tires I took off my 5er were easy to take off. The Michilen Ribs were not easy to put back on as they were way way heavier.

Not saying heavy is good but in this case the I think it is

Thanks for the info. The tires that come on mine are the Provider ST235/80R-16, Load range E and 10 ply rating, Single tire 3,080 lbs. Dual tires 3,520 lbs. both at 80psi. They have the M speed rating also. My camper only weighs 10,900 lbs. with the hitch weight at 1,900 of that. I like the ideal of a G rated tire, but I believe the E rated tires are more than enough for my camper. If I understand correctly the dual load would apply to each side. If that's true then that would be just over 14,000 lbs. They look like a better built tire than the Castle Rock St tires that were on my other camper. I had a blow out in the first 6 months and it damaged the camper, so I know the Castle Rock are not that good. After paying out the nose for the new camper, I'm just hesitant to shell out another $600 -700 for tires. But if the provider is not any good, I would go buy new tires, that's why I hope to get good information. Anyway thanks again for your post.

I believe you have the dual/single tire load capacity mixed up.
Our 2 axle trailers are a tandem axle set up. Each tire has a 3520 lb capacity.

For dual application (as in tires side by side like a one ton DRW rear duals) the rating is the lessor number.

Providers were one of the first new gen higher speed rated ST tires to hit the streets in the '10-'11 era on our commercial trailers. The last few year RV mfg have started using them as OEM.
I have 4 ST235/80-16 E on a GN flatbed trailer. This trailer is one of my road trailers. The tires are going on 7 years with 28k-30k miles. I've had no issues with them. I just got off yesterday from a 460 miles round trip making one of my monthly runs.

G tires at 4080-4400 lb capacity won't be the best idea on a 10k-11k lb trailer....way too much tire.

As the more experienced posters say there are some very good made in china P/ST/LT tires out here that folks make a living on or even pulling a rv or just on a car.

With that info, I can figure my tires at 3,080 lbs. load rating X 4. That would be 12,320 lbs. The camper weighs 10,900 lbs. less the hitch weight of 1,900 lbs. That would mean the tires would be carrying about 9,000 lbs. I know these weights are approximate and that the stuff we put in the camper makes it weigh more, but based on the those figures, the tires would be carrying about 3,320 lbs. less than what they are rated. With the success you and Raineman are having with these tires, it makes me think they will do fine. Thank you for the info, as I needed it.

You've STILL got it backwards......

Single tire.......3520 lbs
Dual tire setup...as in two tires side by side like a Dually truck....3080 lbs

So in your case, total tire capacity is 14,080.....NOT 12,320!

And remember, those load capacity rating are for the tire inflated to the stated pressure.....80 psi. Anything less than the 80 psi and the load capacity is decreased.

Agree with Tuffr2, switch out to the Goodyear Endurance E-Load. US made with 87mph speed rating. It bites driving down the Interstate in a 70 MPH speed zone getting blown off the road because your tires are only rated at 65 MPH. Dump the Chinese stuff first chance you get.

Not a wise choice dumping a proven tire with a 7-8 year record vs one that has been on the streets less than two years and has no record...but is popular.

The track record is not long, this is true. But in all the articles, posts, blogs, and forums, I have yet to hear one single negative review of the tire. If anyone has, please feel free to share.

Humm, seems your Provider tires may be ok. I say this because a few others said they are good and the 'M' speed rating tell me they are not your normal China Bombs.

Again, look at shipping weights. I would say if the shipping weight is heavy then the tire is ok. If it has a super light shipping weight then get new tires, else just keep them.
