Cool, so it should tow a 16,000lb 5th wheel nicely.

It will be interesting when TFL test it up the Ike gauntlet as the 2020 Ram was slow going up that mountain. So if tested it will be interesting how it does.

Also would be interesting to see a turbo boost curve to psi vs torque. Like 5 more pounds of boost is 25 ft lbs of torque.

And my guess this a only the H.O. Cummins and not all their engines.

This is such a non event, 100 lbs more I would be embarrass to put that in print.
Next Ram will use an 80lb female driver and and boast it can tow more than a Ford. You might want to look into what Ram has done for our country to help with the pandemic and what Ford did with out being asked.

Dude, I’m just the messenger. I saw an article and thought I would share it. I don’t even keep up with that stuff anymore since I no longer tow with my truck. I have a DP now. Geez.

All these truck are bad a$$. We are really nit picking when we compare the heavy duty trucks. Or the half tons also. Every year one tries to out do the other by a hair. Buy what you want and let the good times role.

I went back and reviewed the TFL test.

In a nutshell the Ford pulled 30,000lbs up the Ike Gauntlet in 10 minutes 20 seconds.
The old Ram H.O. did the same run with 30,000lbs in 11 minutes 32 seconds.

So waiting for TFL to test this new H.O. engine.

Here is the video from TFL.

I wish they would use a 5th wheel rv instead of a gooseneck.... get some air resistance as well as the weight. Then go down the hill and have the trailer plug drop out around half way down.... you like it does in real life......

I've been driving 3rd place Rams since 2012. Funny thing is on a 1-8 hour drive I've never noticed the extra 30 sec to 1 minute at the end of the day.

Well it is stated in the article that is the HO which comes with the Aisin transmission, and likely also 4.10 rear end.

Tuffr2, the big towing numbers for all three are the most powerful engine and best transmission and lowest rear gear.

I agree with easily towing a 16K 5er, our 2016 Ram 3500, DRW, HO, Aisin 3.73’s is rated to tow 25,024# so 16K is pretty easy also.

Wow so many wiggets (Can u say distracted driving) to play with and to go wrong. ALL 3 very impressive. That hill/route reminds me of the Coquihalla. My old girl makes it up just fine, coming down I usually have to grab a gear to pick up some speed. Gotta love the ex brakes on the Cummins. Now I gotta see what changes they made to it.

Gotta love the TQ wars, HP wars of yester year.

Does it really matter how fast up a hill a pickup goes ? Only a fool or someone running a test with a truck they don’t own would hammer it as hard as they could up a grade like that . I have pulled that grade in a semi pulling 80 grand and a pick up pulling 14000 no more than 3/4 pedal . Gets you up in one piece . Notice they run that test in the winter .
