Well our 2016 Ram 3500 Laramie DRW has a yellow sticker payload of 5,411# and rear axle rating of 9,750#. Likely confused the two numbers.

I believe that the 2019’s say max payload north of 7,000#. I believe that would be a stripped down Tradesman with a 6.4 Hemi.

Nope, no such LDT, the 2019 Ram and 2020 Chevy and Ford will be injected with more steroids but I think the cargo capacity for the dually trucks will be around 6,000lbs.

GVWR and TEN PLY TIRE WEIGHT RATING

GAWR (front) 4750
GAWR (rear) 6150

The realistic and legal load of a vehicle is the tires. Most 1 ton 10 ply tires are rated a 3400 lbs per tire. When you add 2 additional tires to the rear axle of a 1 ton dodge truck...the potential of the rear axle is a Max of 13,600 pounds.

Anything that is not in compliance with the door tag on your vehicle makes you liable in the event of any accident. Or going across the commercial scales.

Ram 3500 Quad Cab Long Bed DRW Payload

My 2016 RAM 3500 DRW crew cab, 8’bed has the 14k GVWR pkg. I thought it was a pretty cool feature...until I got my first registration bill....it was approx 2x here in Texas. My payload is 5750. Click image for larger version

You're 200 pound more than me. I was really incredulous when the guy told me 9k payload. He's towing a trailer that has a pin weight of at least 6k. Maybe 7k, but he's never been to the scales. I was expecting a 5500 truck when I showed up to look at the trailer, but nope, just an overloaded Dodge. I guess I could tow it too, and avoid the MDT or HDT.

What kind of trailer has 6000 to 7000 pin weight. Just curious, thanks.

Some rv folks weigh their trailer after loading (less unladin) and mistakenly use the scaled rear gross axle load as pin weight.
However those of us that haul commercial run those kind of hitch loads on the newer gen cab/chassis with a lite weight haulers bed one ton DRW trucks with those larger 9375-9900 lb rawr pulling 20k gn trailers.. We can load heavy or lite hitch loads depending how the deck is loaded.

Well not quite right, tires on a DRW are derated to about 2,800# ea. Then there is the axle Manufacture weight rating of the axles it's self.

PIN weight

I wonder if people are confusing PIN weight with rear axle/drive axle of the truck with trailer. When I cross the scales my Drive axle is roughly 6800......but that is with a 65 gallon auxilary fuel tank...3500watt yamaha and tail gate tool box.. Of course trailer pin weight is on the fifth wheel also. I am actually heavier then I want to be on just single rear wheels.

just info...my two trailer axles weigh in at 9900 lbs
