Ram puck system questions
I'm looking at the 2018 Ram Mega Cab 3500. It's a 6.5' bed, but the factory installed Mopar hitch is not a slider. Is this going to work? I currently have the PullRite SuperGlide on my shortbed Silverado. I'm not familiar with the puck system options.

I had the puck system on my Ford with an 8' bed. I really liked it since when the 5th wheel hitch was out of the truck it was back to a normal truck bed. I could haul stone, mulch, firewood, kayaks on a flat bed without rails.
Ford worked with Reese to make a hitch to fit the Ford puck system. Since then a few other hitch makers now make a hitch to fit the same as the special Reese hitch.
Chevy and Ram have since added a factory option for an under bed 'puck' hitch system. I know the Ford puck system and Ram puck system use a different pattern so you can not transfer a puck system hitch from Ford to Ram. I am unsure about Chevy.
I looked at a Ram with a 6'6" bed with a puck system. I too was concerned that the Mopar hitch was not slider. If you have a 5th wheel with the front cutouts you probably will be ok. I see advertised 88 degree turning with a short bed truck on some 5th wheels. Lots of people tow 5th wheels with a short bed truck. I am stupid so I used a truck with an 8' bed.
I ended up selling the 5th wheel and older Ford truck for a different newer Ford truck.
Probably someone else will jump in with a solution.

I'm guessing since you say 35'er it's a 310. Being a wide body will limit turning angle a bit more an a regular 8' RV. I would think you will need some kind of slider to clear cab. When I bought my '17 they had a $1000 accessories incentive so I got the OE hitch. Looks to be a Curt 25k fixed head. I had to move head mount to top set of holes to get adequate bed clearance. RV is level , but my dually starts out +/-2" lower than a SRW.
Etrailer lists a couple of RAM puck hitch options.

Thanks. I'm thinking of just getting the truck without the hitch, and looking for a compatible slider. PullRite has an adapter for the ram puck system, but I don't think it will fit my 4100 hitch. I'm going to call their customer service on Monday if they're not closed for the "holiday".

I have a 2028 Ram 2500 and got the Curt 20K sliding hitch with the puck system. Works great and even though it's a manual slider I've seldom had to use it in the rear position. Most of the sites we use are pull thru so don't require any extreme turns.

Pullrite customer service responded first thing this morning to my inquiry. I can reuse my 4100 auto slide hitch with the use of a couple adapters. I really like the auto slide feature, so I'm going to do that. The adapters will be about $700.

Post a pic when you get it all set up. That is great news that you can reuse your old hitch.[emoji106]

Pullrite is great about staying current with new adapters. I switched my 14 yr old Superglide from my ‘04 Ram to a new F350 with some new adapters for $650.

It required two adapter kits to install the PullRite 4100 to the Ram pucks. Part #'so 4439 and 4409. It ended up being the same height as it was in my 2011 Silverado, with the 3" lift kit on the hitch.
This is problematic because the bedside is not as tall on the Ram. I have 1" from the top of the hitch to the top of the bed rails. So the USA truck cover will not clear the hitch.
Now I need to find a tonneau cover that will clear the hitch.

And I was able to find a retractable tonneau cover that doesn't intrude on the space below the top of the bedrail. It's the Pace Edwards Ultragroove. It was easy to install and, I think, looks great.
