With the stiffer frame they can fine tune the ride more than with the previous frame. The Ram did not have Air suspension.

What I found interesting was the 2020 Ford also ride better than than my 2017. So Ford did something to their suspension. I felt I was driving a bigger F-150 it was that good. That smoother ride coupled with the power and 10 speed transmission plus the lighter steering makes me want this truck.
After 2 1/2 months I am still amazed at the ride mine gives me. There is no harshness or jarring like I've had in my previous trucks. I used to get a death grip on the steering wheel of my prior 17 F350 when I went over a set of railroad tracks that I frequently hit. The 20 just takes it in stride. I had a lot of bump steer in my 17 which I corrected with a better steering stabilizer. There is not a hint of bump steer with the new one. My prior 2 trucks were duals, one Ford and one GMC, so the comparison may not be fair.

I towed a 14000 5er with 342s in a Ram . My new truck has 373 . With 6 to 10 speed tyranny’s you really don’t need that low of gearing unless you are in the 20, 000 range in my opinion .

Thanks! That was my thinking as well, especially with these new transmissions.

Read an interesting bit on harsh “clunking” in the front end on 2019 and 2020 Rams on the Cummins forum. Is anyone with a new Ram experiencing this?

Troublesome to read on the Cummins forum, as it seems Ram doesn’t have an answer for it.

Until you pull something that heavy with that gearing up a hill. 4.88s and 18k is perfect imo.

None here. I'm happy as can be with the ride compared to others I drove. Maybe the air ride option has something to do with it. It's also very quiet.

I have a '19 3500 SRW with the Aisin, and no clunking. The tranny is a little harsh at times, but not much different then the Allison was on my previous truck.

Is the fuel economy much worse on the '19?

From my previous truck, a '16 Chevy 2500 Dmax, yes, more then I expected. The RAM 3500 is about 300 lbs heavier, and I do have the HO engine, but didn't expect as much loss. On the highway, the Dmax empty would get 21-22 mpg. The RAM is getting 16 mpg. All hand calculated.

My 2019 HO (4:10) is getting 18 mpg on the highway.

No one was ever fired for buying a FORD

Buy the one that feels good to you, all three work great

How about none of the above. Keep you current truck as a daily driver and go with a HDT. They are cheaper than a new pickup. Click image for larger version
