Epeddy1. A couple of things to look for on the Ram. Make sure you have the 20" tires and rims and make sure of the rear axle ratio. Mine is 3.92 and you don't want to go any lower and make sure of the hitch rating. Mine is a crew cab so if you are contemplating a quad cab with the above taken into account, you will have no problem with your rig. BTW, the "Tradesman" level of Ram is just a capable, just with less bling and a wee bit cheaper. Hope this helps. Enjoy your SAFE travels.

When I jumped back in my sister's Tundra the other day, it felt like a little tin can to me.

I agree 100% with this statement. The 3/4 tons these days ride pretty well. The only time I can tell a difference in the 1500 from the 2500 is on the highway unloaded, get a little bounce. I dont drive the highway all that much so doesnt really bother me. I wouldnt have a 1/2 ton again unless I wasn't towing much other than a medium size boat or a pop up. Payload and smaller brakes being the main 2 reasons. [emoji111]

jjack - you are truly spoiled now. Anyone driving a 2020 is spoiled. The Tundra did not have the Heads-Up-Display so now you have to watch the speed the old fashion way by moving your eyes off the road[emoji16]

I agree, too. I drive a Dually F-350 and prefer driving it over my wife's Ford Escape. I do park in the unused section of parking lots so I can take 1 1/2 parking spaces and I get a little exercise walking the extra distance. Then again, I don't park the Escape where all the idiots park, either! You will quickly get used to a bigger truck and love it!

Yor prediciment (op) is exactly as mine. I just went 1 ton. This above is one of the best posts in this thread. I added up your weight and the half ton will work.
When I was looking that is what I was hoping for and wanted but these wise posts shouldn't be ignored. You sound smarter then me, you certainly write better. But since your going half ton. Go 3/4. I made the half ton mistake on my first work van. If you can afford to take the hit then get the 3/4. I tested one and it drove great. But I got a 5th wheel and need more payload. Youll spend less over time. Be safer and have a much better ride. of course this is just MHO. Good luck. 30 feet is a long trailer. When I tested the 2500 ram I was digging it emptied.

Dude, I appreciate your concern but don't you think you came off a little pushy. Maybe you didn't mean it but that is how it came off.
I'm thinking you meant well but remember this is the internet and sometimes tone gets lost.
Manufacturers are famous for overstating their product's capabilities. But you did ask for opinions so here I go again. I guess we all want everything. You want a comfy daily driver and a truck that can pull your trailer. At the very least I'm thinking you will have to do a little give and take on this.
Comfy ride, maybe stressful towing.
Comfy towing, maybe bumpy ride.

I'm a little confused who you are replying to, as you quoted yourself. Are you saying I was being pushy? If so, it was definitely lost tone on internet. Lot of internal conflict going on the last couple weeks with this whole thing.

I agree with both assertions.
The new HD trucks really are fantastic. They haul huge amounts of weight safely and drive around unloaded like a luxury sedan. It makes having a big truck as a daily driver much, much more palatable than it was in the past.

epeddy - you ever buy that Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi? If so, how are you liking it so far?

Still waiting to get my hands on it. Should have it Thur this week. Excited! I'm having the spray liner done before I pick it up.

Yep, good idea to have a spray in bed liner. I bet you will like towing with a Ram 1500 Hemi over your Ranger. Those Ram trucks are nice.

Rims are 20". Tires are all season (not LT). That will be one thing I'll look at after taking the rig to a CAT scale - to make sure the tires are rated for the weight. Seems like they should be, but I'll double check. Rear axle ratio is 3.92.
