Rear sway bar for Ram 1500

I am thinking of adding a new rear sway bar to my truck. It is a 2016 ram 1500 with a 5.7 and 3:92 gears. It came with heavy duty shocks. I feel a bigger sway bar will help.

Help with what problem?. Cornering behavior or carrying capacity?

A sway bar (correctly called anti-sway bar) only comes into effect when cornering and can be added, or made larger, at each end of the vehicle. Sway bars do not affect load carrying capacity.

Stiffer sway bars reduce lean and in higher cornering speeds affect oversteer or understeer (NASCAR terms: Loose or Pushing).

Air bags, air shocks, stiffer springs, helper springs, Sumo springs, etc. etc. may affect how a vehicle sits with a load, and also affect cornering, but don't necessarily increase the manufacturer's officially stated carrying capacity.

I agree with George. What does your trailer weigh?

Are you talking about an anti-sway system for trailer towing or a sway bar as some part of a suspension upgrade for the truck? I seem to remember sway bars being part of suspensions on cars for cornering, etc.

I am talking about up grade to my truck. Was just thinking it would help. Not a big dollar up grade.

My son has a 2014 just like yours and he upgraded the front sway bar. Easy job and made some difference I guess. Then he lifted it and put 35 inch tires on it. Kids!! It does ride great and looks like a beast.

Anti roll bars need to be complementary. I added one one to my 2500 and had to upsize the front.

This isn't optional. It's easy to screw up truck balance.

Hotchkis Suspension is who I'd go to with a 1500. Get a package that is engineered. Bars, shocks, bushings.

Yes, it will help.
