Saw my 1st unimpressive 2020 F-250

Palm Coast Ford has 1 XLT crew cab with an 8' bed with the 6.7 diesel. The hitch was 15,000lbs with a max of 1,500lbs on the tongue. One slight difference is my 2017 Crew Cab Lariat short bed 6.2 gas has a 6,200lb rear axle and the 2020 has a 6,350lb rear axle.

I was really disappointed with the 2,028lb cargo capacity. The 2020 Chevy 2500HD diesel has at least 1,000lbs more capacity.
The GVWR was 10,000 lbs while the Chevy 2500HD had a GVWR of 11,350 if I remember right.

You probably saw one with the 10,000 GVWR package. In previous years, that was an option because some states have weird requirements for vehicles with over 10,000 GVWR. They are considered commercial or something like that, so you need much higher insurance and get hit hard with registration fees, etc. I assume 2020 is no different and still has that option. All it really is, is a different sticker on the door jamb. It's quite literally the same truck as the ones with 11,350.

I think you're getting them backwards. The F350 can be derated to 10,000 lbs but the F250 can't be uprated to 11,350.
I may be wrong but only GM is offering a higher than 10,000 lbs rated GVWR 3/4 ton.

I think both Ram and GM now offer a 2500 series truck with a 11,350 GVWR but only the 2020 GM 2500 truck has a 20,000/2,000 lb. factory hitch. That factory hitch is needed to tow some of the big travel trailers like the big Jayco 330 series trailers or even the Rockwood/Flagstaff Signature/Classic trailers.

How do you know about the new HD 2020 Ram? On the Ram site you can only build an HD 2019 or 2020 1500.

Zoom - me too. This one did have the 1050 ft.lb. generating diesel engine and an 8' bed XLT with FX4 package.

TFL is testing the trucks now but for some reason will not post the video until Jan 21st. Roman calls it an embargo. Must be a embargo on information. They get the trucks early if they do not post any driving impressions.

There are two new gas engines. The GM 6.6 with 6 speed transmission and Ford 7.3 with 10 speed transmission.

I test drove the 2020 Custom trim level Chevy 2500HD 6.6 gas engine. I was very impressed with the way it drove. Also impressed with the payload and towing. I would add this truck to your options.

The Ford with the 7.3 Godzilla engine 10 speed will also be interesting.

I will be comparing the GM 3500 6.6gas vs the Ford F-350 7.3 Godzilla.

Cummins - it is my understanding the 2019 Ram 2500/3500 was the redesigned truck. That 2020 there will be not frame or engine changes.

Did you by any chance notice what the 6.6 lie o meter said the MPG was?

I know, it is hardly a fair evaluation due to several different people driving, checking out the power and probably stop and go traffic, but, if under those conditions, it is in or near the teens, that would be impressive. On the other hand, if it’s 8 or less MPG, there could be reason for concern.

No I did not. I could not find where to reset the lie-o-meter easy as I was unfamiliar with the Chevy.

I am a Ford fan boy but now thinking of becoming a GM fan boy.

I think TFL might have done a milage run but not 100% sure.

There is a YouTuber that had a 6.0 Chevy pulling a trailer in the Rockies then bought a new 2020 Chevy 2500 gas Custom trim truck. Initially he had a transmission issue that took awhile to get fixed. Finally got it fixed and he tows his trailer over a 4000' elevation gain in 5 miles. The old 6.0 would over heat but his new truck tows a whole lot better and does not overheat.

Actually you can now build a 2020 RAM 2500. You need to edit the URL from the 2019 configuration page and change "2019" to "2020" in the URL. Looks like they're getting ready to go live with the 2020 configurator soon.

Last I read the 2020 Ram HD wasn't available until the 2nd or 3rd qtr of 2020. Thats a long time to wait if ordering soon.

If this is true that's a huge step backwards imho.

Sorry, I misspoke - the payload was 2,064lbs. This was a 4x4 Diesel XLT
