Sliding bumper hitch

Years ago, at least 30 years ago, my dad owned a van and it had a draw-Tite bumper hitch that rolled along an arced rail side to side. It made a bumper pull trailer turn more like a 5th wheel because it put the pivot point for the trailer near the axle. I remember him being able to make some incredible turns in some of these small parks.

Does anyone here have any info on a hitch like that. I searched Google for a long time and want able to find anything.

Wow, what a pile of steel! Although the theory is OK, I would never install it on a customer's, nor my own vehicle. Look at all the potential fail points. Look at the potential to destroy an exhaust system should a hanger let go or hitting a big bump while turning, definitely not uncommon here.

All that just so people can buy the puniest, most unreliable, underpowered and under "chassis-ed" vehicle. Wow.

Get a proper truck for what needs to be pulled and no issues with a strong, standard hitch.

A bumper pull will turn a corner SHARPER than a comparable 5th wheel. Pulling smoothness, ride, stability and handling are almost always better with 5th wheel.

That's the one. It was a neat hitch. Never had a problem with it. There were bars that locked the ball in place. You could also lock it in the center to tow a different trailer, like a utility, or lock it off to the side and out of the way.
