Some real world MPG numbers from this summer's trip.

Just wanted to pass along some efficiency info on my Ford 2022 SRW F350 diesel towing a bumper pull 30ft TT weighing about 8k pounds.

Just finished a 15.5k mile trip from Key Largo to Alaska. I kept it under 60mph on highways.

Anyway...averaged 13mpg for total trip. As you know, much of this is in mountains and high winds.

I don't know if this is good or bad when compared to other vehicles.
I just thought I would share this for info purposes to help others.
I attached a pic of my trip odometer. Please add 10k to the miles number as it reset at 10k.

If I was in Key Largo I would have just stayed there. Anyway thanks for posting this information. That is some kind of long a$$ trip. How do you get psych'ed to even start a trip like that. I used to have to get psych'ed to take a 975 mile trip twice a year being a snowbird.

LOL...
The kicker is that this was my very first RV trip...EVER. We had never laid our head in an RV before.
We loved it though. Key largo may be a nice tourist area but it is tough to live in. We needed to escape the heat and experience a change of scenery.

Did you happen to keep all your fuel stop records? If you know exactly how much fuel you used and figure your actual mileage, you can, on the Ford change a constant in the DIC so your mileage display will be accurate. My 2022 F350’s mileage display read about 5% better than actual before changing the calibration constant. My 2021 was about 7% off.

No...didn't know you had to do this. In the marine world with OB motors the mpg is accurate from factory based on injector usage feedback. Just assumed Ford would be accurate too...

As a comparison of sorts:

Florida to Colorado to eastern Wyoming, then back east to Connecticut. (will go back to FL in October). Pulling same 30 ft TT with a 2021 Ram 2500/Cummins.
Approximately 9500 miles, 75 to 80 % of it towing, the rest empty doing site seeing.
Average is 15.5 mpg hand calculated with all fuel qty and cost logged. My towing speed is approx 57 mph on expressways, a few under posted on secondary roads.
I am very pleased with that average number. I was expecting around 12.

So far brakes still working, hubs are cool to the touch, no tire damage (knock on wood).

My stated fuel mileage on my Dodge truck is, let's say, very proud of itself.

Did you check your truck's actual mileage with pencil and paper? Mine and many others would find the hand calculated mileage significantly less than that stated on the dash.

Just sayin'

Fuel algorithms have come a long ways since 2008. I saw an mpg test on Fast Lane Trucks between a Ram HD and a Ford HD a couple years ago. The mpg on the Ram was actually higher than the EVIC after hand calc.
Not saying they're all that way cause they're not. But new trucks are pretty close.

If the total gallons and miles are available, a hand calc would still
be interesting.

2007 Dodge 3500 SRW 4:10 gear/4 sp auto towing 14K 5th wheel 34" length 13'4" height......hand calculated 10.5 mpg
Speed 65 mph or less

Just back from a 1500 mile trip to SoCal deserts with a 2022 Ford F350, 7.3l, 4:30 axle towing an 8000 lb trailer. On flat road, no wind at 60 mph it got about 10.1 to 10.3. Previously determined the truck's fuel flow calcs are right on. The 7.3l has been impressive and although it does not have the torque of a new diesel, hills such as Hwy 58 out of Bakersfield were not an issue. As a sidenote we found that diesel fuel prices were about 75cents to a $1.50 more than gas along the way.

It won't be long when a few will be boasting about 20+MPG hauling 16000lb rigs. Some people need to contact automakers, as those people don't know anything about fuel efficiency.

I find Old Biscuit's and GME's figures pretty realistic.

Mileage figures are all over the place due to the usual plethora of items that affect it. Expect the diesel to get about 3mpg better all things being equal.
