Yep, but one year won't be so different, and 3 years away is a lot less research to do if I do some scouting now ...

Also, It's not 2200 pounds pin weight. Its about 1900 plus the non pin payload in my example.
A 5th wheel trailer depending on how its loaded will always have 20 ~25% pin weight based on GVW. Assuming it is 10,000lbs it will have 2000 to 2500lbs of wet ready to travel weight on the pin. trailer manufactures are notorious for posting the shipping pin weight for trailer and everyone thinks great I can hook this to my 1/2 ton where in reality a 3/4 ton is at max load and a 1 SRW is well within safe limits.

My trailer shows its 2600lbs but in reality I scaled it i am at 3600~3700lbs and my 1 ton 3500SRW is over loaded on the rear axle by 700lbs.

So fast forward ! you hitch is roughly 200 ~250lbs , your trailer is maybe 2200lbs if your lightly loaded. What else is in the truck ? 200lbs of fire wood , tools ??? Your at 2800lbs in the bed of cargo without even trying. NONE of the GM 3/4 ton diesel trucks have a payload rated that high , Gas motor trucks your very close to MAX payload .

So could you make due, that is up to you if your willing to use a gas motor Yes BUT you would be better off with a 1 ton SRW

This is right off GM web page under the 2020 trailer towing guide . the payload rating changes with every trucks options.

Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully review the trailering
section of the Owner’s Manual. The weight of passengers,
cargo and options or accessories may reduce the amount you can tow.

My numbers were not hypotetical, and included provisions and equipment, as I said previously. I was really clear about that, to avoid this exact conversation. Guess it didn't work.

Every NEW 2020 truck I have specced out has had payload numbers above 3400. Wonder why yours aren't. Maybe it is because I am not speccing $80,000 diesel trucks. Again, .

I have the 2019 ram 2500 tradesman crew cab short bed. Payload is 3213. I have the 6.4l with the 8speed 4x4. I have the snow plow prep package minus the extra switches and the rotary dial shifter. I have the fold down center console as well. I wish i had purchased the 5th wheel prep, but will get it soon.

I have seen no steering issues, no electrical gremlins and have loved it for the first 11,000 miles so far. I got mine during the black Friday events for much less than a 5 or 6 year old truck[emoji41][emoji41].

When we were looking we were not impressed with the 2020 GM products for the money.

Any ?s

I looked at the Chevy Custom 2500 on line today and was actually sort of intrigued. The one thing on the GMs I like is the extra bed length on the SB. Why did you not like the GMs?

Do you have a camera for the truck bed/5er hitch? It's one of the hard things to figure out across platforms in terms of what pkgs include it.

Any idea if it can be installed on the Ram after purchase? What display/screen do you have? Did you get the plow package as a way to get front suspension/alternator upgrades?

I think the camera can only be installed with the larger touch screen...might have to check the ram forum or dealer for that. The poem replaces the 3rd brake light assembly.

As far as the snow plow prep it was a cheaper option than specing out the skid plates, alternator, and running lights separately....along with factory manual towing mirrors.
