Stay-in-Play Duo stopped working.
The brakes were not coming on in our towed vehicle when the coach was braking. I investigated the system, and I discovered that the cable of the brake peddle cylinder had broken right at the anchor point on the firewall. I tried several ways to splice this cable but it is too tiny and too slick.
I contacted Demco in Boyden, Iowa and their only fix was to rebuild the cylinder for about $100.
I asked a few questions about the anchor stud. I was trying to understand why the cable had parted. The Tech told me that was there had been a redesign and the cable no longer turned a sharp 90 degree bend at the anchor stud. The cable was now aligned with the direction of the pull where it leads to the clamping set screw. I bought the redesigned anchor stud and installed it along with the rebuilt cylinder.
This is installed on a Mercedes 3500 van. It has performed very well.
I am adding some photos comparing the two styles of anchor studs. as well as a photo of the under dash layouut. The one in my grand daughter's fingers is the old style. The cable turns a 90 degree angle and goes down through the clamping channel and under the setscrew. The setscrew has easy access. The new style has an allen setscrew that must be tightened from above. Tight quarters!
