Last week I made a post about my worthless truck and what I was offered on a trade for a Ford F250 6.0 diesel XLT. Well I was not crazy over the deal or the interior the truck had. Well today I found out one of my neighbors tried out the same truck and found out it was leaking oil under the truck. The dealer offered to fix the leak and another thousand off the price. He walked away from the deal. I knew they had problems in the 03 and 04 but thought it was fixed by now. I usually don't look under new trucks but I will now. I also think I am going to forget about buying Ford trucks.

All trucks are going to have their problems.
My buddies Allison leaked oil all the time. Chevy could never get it to stop.

I had an 04 F350 6.0. That was the last 6.0 I will ever own. I tried the other two brands and liked their diesels but I liked the Superduty Ford's 05 SRW GVWR so I ordered my 05 V10.
I am happy with it so far and I needed that 11200 GVWR for my 06 Montana Fiver's 2600 pound pin weight. I would have overloaded my 04's 9900 GVWR by over a thousand pounds and I truly believe the majority of SRW 9900 GVWR trucks pulling 30 foot high profile fivers are overloaded.

diandtom--
didn't see you previous post--are you saying your current ('06) truck is 'worthless' and you looked at a new Ford and it has an oil leak?

No wingnut, I had a 2003 Chevy and was looking at a Ford F250. I liked the truck but I did not get much of a offer on my 2003 Chevy. It would have cost me a lot to trade. Also one of my neighbors tried out the same truck and found a oil leak on the rear main seal. They offered to fix it and another $1000 off the price. He did not buy it either as was afraid of it. I did not know anything about the leak until a few days later. I had the truck most of the afternoon but did not look under the truck. I got a 2006 Chevy 2500 HD about like what I had only with 4wd and a crew cab. The Chevy dealer offered me a lot more for my truck and a good discount on the price of their their truck. It may be because I was trading a Chevy for Chevy instead of a Chevy for a Ford. If the price had been better I would be driving a Ford oil leak and all.

My 06 (purchased in 3/06) is currently in the shop, this is the 2nd time for an oil leak, 1st time 7 days, rear main seal and cover, this time 10 days (still there) front cover. I noticed the oil leak at ~1100 miles.
I like the truck and it has towed our 10K TT many times and this month we went from South Florida to East Tennessee and it towed great, and was very happy with it, but IM NOT happy with the oil leaks.

I bought my F250 new in April of 02. I had it in the dealer 4 times for the same oil leak. In fact, I told them it was leaking out of the back of the turbo the first time I took it in. They finally got it on the fourth try.
I don't thik its the truck as much as the guy that is used to worling on gas engines all day that fills in for the deisel mechanic on his days off.

I am glad to report we have a 2002 F250 with 95k miles and no oil leaks of any kind. But the Lincoln Town Car has a high pitch whine at 50-58 MPH that drives me crazy.
