You may want to upgrade your cooling system as well while your getting the work done. Pulling a grade with a heavy load while supercharged is going to create a lot of heat in the engine, I would consider adding an oil cooler and a radiator with more cooling cores in it. ~CA

Seems like most say it does add db to the exhaust system but it is great for adding hp & low end torque. REALLY pricey too!

Coming from the commercial side we had O/O who tried some brand of huffer on their 8.1/7.5/7.4 and even a 6.4 Hemi. Everyone ran too much engine heat for hauling duties and sold there truck too someone looking for a performance truck.
I tried a huffer when I hauled with 454/460 one ton drw trucks. I fought the "heat" problem using every thing on the market.

Problem with a huffer is most tech runs towards performance trucks and not towards a tow beast.
Do your home work on towing performance for the 6.0 GM.

Love it.. go for it.. it's always cheaper and better to improve what you got.. but if I was to invest 10,000.00 and 100hrs of labor of my time.. under coat the truck.. at something like Zebart.. otherwise you will have another rusted out Chevy with 50,000.00 in up grades .. by the time you add bigger brakes.. bigger exhaust.. bigger cooling system bigger... bigger.. bigger.. speed is really addicting... good luck and keep us posted.. upgrade transmission cooler.. add one..

Maybe a little. That's what mufflers are for. Plenty of not too loud low restriction mufflers out there.

I'm not sure the headers would do very much. I mean, the forced induction pretty much erases any flow inefficiencies, doesn't it?

Edit--speaking off of instinct here, not experience. Feel free to correct me.

I think I'll stick to just the supercharger for a bit and determine if anything else is required.

As for breaking the transmission or transfer case, as long as you use it as you have described, I don't think that the extra torque/hp of the supercharger will cause you problems.

However, you didn't state how many miles you have on the truck? If this is a high mileage truck you may find that the extra boost might be just enough to push weak rings, worn valve seals, or worn rod bearings over the edge, resulting in increased oil consumption at best or failure at worst. But if you are using a reputable mechanic for the install, he would probably have warned you about this if he thought it was a risk.

Best of luck. I look forward to your review after the installation.

Heat will probably be your enemy with this, since when towing you’ll be under load most of the time. I’d maybe consider cams, head work, exhaust. Get the air in and out of the engine quicker.

I bought it with 48,000 non towing miles. Have 72,000 now with about 1,000 towing.

I'll start with just the supercharger and go from there.

I meant that stuff in lieu of a blower

That makes more sense. After I spend all that money on things other than a sc, will I have +100 HP and torque?
