Thinking about a supercharger for my Chevy 6.0

I have been drooling over F-450's but man, are they expensive (new and used). I love my 2015 Chevy 2500 6.0 gasser and apparently the engine is well regarded. But I would like to improve performance. So I am looking at adding a supercharger. There is a local place that will install and Edelbrcok supercharger for $8k including a tune. Seems like that might be a better way to go vs. trying to find a new/used truck in this market. Appreciate your thoughts.

Make sure the transmission and transfer case can handle whatever power you add. I am not sure which units come on the gasser models.

6L90 transmission
Not sure of the transfer case. It has a NQG code and is manual.

skip the upgrade on the gasser, get a duramax truck used . Stock it can pull double what a 6.0l gas will do working hard and the duramax will do it every day for years. your trans on the 6.0 truck will give up fairly quick and the amount of power you gain still will not equal the pulling power of a oil burner.

dealers are paying top dollar for good used trades but you will pay top dollar for a good used truck . I would expect to pay just under 60K for a low mileage 2018 denali crew cab 4x4 duramax today.

Wanna sell me your truck at a reasonable price (not market price)?

Remember the old Six Million Dollar Man TV show? No one ever mentioned on the show that if he pulled on something hard with his bionic arm, it would just rip off of his body.

Aftermarket boost is sort of like that.

Would you trust the emission system on a used diesel truck? I would not. If you understand how that emissions system works you will think twice about owning one. I owned a Gen 1 Ford 6.7 for just under 7 years. I had zero problems but could sense I was on borrowed time.

But agree with the towing ability as I can agree with it is twice what the gas motor can tow. .but again the elephant in the diesel room is that emission system.

That does not match the data I have reviewed. I am not going for 1,000 HP, just a standard 6 psi boost with a tune to manage the new system. I did find it interesting talking to the installer about what I wanted to accomplish and he asked me if I wanted to build a toy/show truck or a work truck. He understood exactly what I was asking for. Although I think he would have preferred it if I wanted a toy truck because then he could get me to buy a CAI, headers, cam, exhaust, 37" tires and a 9" lift. Nope, just a stock work truck with manual seats and 100 more torques.

Maybe I should just install a nitrous kit for the hills.

Yeah, it's entirely possible that my experiences have all been with skewed by engines built for people who think Vin Diesel is a hero-figure. I suppose if you have the moderation and self-discipline to stick with low-boost, it might be workable. I've just pulled, and helped pull, too many boosted engines where the output overwhelmed design strength in various areas.

Not sure who you are asking. I've had a mix of new and used diesels, so yes I would trust a used diesel.

I think a set of long tube headers may help with that Whipple.
