Tire load rating vs rim load rating
I will soon have a new truck, a RAM 3500 Cummins megacab SRW with 20 inch wheels. I will be towing a travel trailer with a max loaded weight of 10,000 lbs and a max tongue weight of 1000 lbs.
I am considering changing the stock rims and tires (285/60/20). The new tires are BFG KO2 285/65/20 so they are slightly larger. The rims I am interested in have a load rating of 2200 lbs. That seems too low to me. Other rims in the same brand have load ratings as high as 3700 lbs.
So is a rim load rating of 2200 lbs too light for my purposes? Should I stick with rims that have a load rating similar to the LT tire rating?

YES ! and YES !
Along with the weight load rating , the rim's max pressure rating has to meet or exceed that of the tires.
Don't forget metal valves in the new rims too .

No reputable tire store can or will legally put wheels or tires on that are rated for less than the OEM equipment.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of putting Black Rhino Arsenal 20 inch wheels in place of OEM wheels. The BR have a load rating of roughly 2200-2400 lbs from memory. I think that is too low based on what you are saying. They have other models that I like that have load ratings of ~3600 lbs which seem much more appropriate to my needs. I could not find anywhere the load rating of RAM 20" wheels for the 3500.
I spoke to a guy at Discount Tire who had no qualms about the Arsenal rims with the KO2 tires.

Time to examine the OEM tires for their load & pressure rating , the factory rims will exceed both .

That will give you a 4,400# rear axle load rating which is pretty wimpy for a 1 ton truck. I would learn to like the stock rims and tires.

The tire your listing is for a P tire or passenger tire. Truck tires will be listed as a LT285/60-20 load E for a one ton truck.
The tires and wheels need to meet a 3500 lb + load and a 80 psi requirement for your new truck.

I'm pretty sure the load rating is stamped on your stock wheels somewhere. You might also check your owners' manual.

Many are stamped in the valley requiring tire removal to see it.

I have absolutely seen 3/4 ton trucks with VERY VERY questionable after market rims installed.

My truck is on order with anticipated delivery in about 4 weeks. It looks like the aftermarket rims are in one of two classes: either ~2200 lbs or 3600 lbs. I will focus on the latter. I have not seen any that are significantly higher.

Run the VIN and verify RAWR, 20" Tire Load Index
ANY New tires/rims should match RAWR at minimum

I agree with the others. Further, beware of increased sway with larger tires that have a lesser load rating and PSI requirements - they may well be rated at enough for your load but sway control is substantially reduced.
