I have 17" wheels and 2WD
But towed 14K 5vr FT for 7 yrs

Swapped OEM tires out within 3 months for some Michelin A/T2
At 60,000 miles a put a new set on (old were NOT worn out but Towing heavy I an anal about tires)
Now have 50,000 miles on that set and still wearing great.

No longer towing FT so may run this set longer.
1st set ran rear tires at 80PSI all the time (fronts 55psi)
Good even wear
This set........fronts still 55psi but rears are 80PSI when towing and 45PSI when not towing ----Good even wear also

Only rotate when get tires re-balanced which is once a year

After this set.....going to give Cooper Discoverer Tires a shot and see how they do

F250 2x4 crewcab diesel:

OEM tires were Firestone H/T's and they lasted 33k miles. We were pulling a lot of enclosed trailers moving 300 miles away. We were towing much faster than any RV would ever see--making the tires wear prematurely.

Went to the same Firestones, but A/T tread. They lasted 40K miles in normal driving.

Switched to Toyo Open Country A/T's, and they lasted about 40K miles. They were about equal in quality to the OEM Firestones.

Now on a set of Michelin LTX A/T tread tires, and they're smoother and wearing much better than the previous tires. They were about $20 more than the above tires @ Costco, but mile to mile should be cheaper in the long run.

I run two sets of tires on my truck. One set is the Michelin M/S 2 tires for winter use and the other set is Nitto Dura grappler with Mickey Thompson Side Bitter II rims for summer towing use. I like the Nitto Dural Grappler because of the rated load capacity of the tire and rim these have a load index of 123.
