First I want to thank everyone for some amazing responses to the original question!

After reading all the responses and doing some research I think I'll probably stick with the 5th wheel vs putting a goose neck adapter on a trailer.

As mentioned, it would most likely put undue stress on the trailer frame running the goose neck.

Goose box as mentioned is the only safe way to GN a 5th wheel

The problem really is stopping very fast and unless you have disk or extra capacity brakes (upsized axles/brakes) you are going to push forward extremely hard and their in lies the problem

I agree that the Goose Box is the way to do the conversion but I'm not sure I can justify the expense for goose neck capability.
