To Install or Not To Install (That is the Question)

Hi all,

Yes, by the title I'm a HS World Literature Teacher.

Here is my situation. I am about 4 to 5 years from retirement and I currently have a 2004 F350 Diesel Dually with 90K miles. Love the truck and it pulls my 5th wheel like a dream. I tend to do the majority of my travel in the summer, but so far haven't done a multi-state trip. Not sure this summer will happen or not.

I want to put a fuel/tool box combo in my bed and extend my range, but I'm not sure if in 3 to 5 years I will have the same truck. It being 15 years old the day may come where it will begin to nickel and dime me to death. Should I go ahead and put the combo box in and if and when I buy a new truck just let it go or wait. I'm the type of guy who hates to spend $800 to $1000 to see it go away.

Just some helpful insight from those who have put one in and sold their truck or just make the move and enjoy the ride.

I just upgrade my 06 Chevy to a 18 Chevy and it was no problem transferring the aux tank from the old to the new truck. Just time the transfer for when the aux tank is empty and park the trucks tailgate to tailgate and slide it over. You can even unhook everything ahead of time and do the transfer at the dealership lot to be fastened down later. I also transferred the tonneau cover over and planned to transfer the fifth wheel hitch, but ended up buying a new style puck mounted hitch instead.

Alas, poor Go Dawgs; I knew him well. At 90 k miles, your truck is barely broken in. The engine is good for at least 300 k miles.

that truck will last you a lifetime and even if you send $1000 to $2000 a year its a lot cheaper then a new one. I have 2005 with 210,000 miles on it and she still runs great, she has never left me on the side of the road, i did have to nurse her home once, (EGR cooler went out good thing I carry a case of water everywhere I go) but other than that she a champ
