Tonneau cover question
May be getting a fifth wheel for my truck, 2016 f250 SRW diesel. Just got the truck and have a 28ft travel trailer that was towed by a Dodge Durango. We are going to upgrade the camper and not sure if we are going to get a larger travel trailer or fifth wheel. Travel a lot without the camper and want space to haul. So thinking a Tonneau cover for the bed. Would that affect a fifth wheel hitch? Looking at a Rollbak g2 Tonneau cover. Any one have any info if the cover would prevent having the fifth wheel. Thanks, Ben

As long as you have clearance for your 5th wheel, I can't see a problem. I see lots of tonneau covers with 5th wheels. Do a quick search on Google and look at images "tonneau cover with 5th wheel". I didn't find any that were identified as the Rollbak g2 but they look to work the same.

I have a roll up cover on my truck. It is not a problem for me, but with the cover rolled up I cannot see the hitch. I really do like the cover even with a louvered tailgate things do not blow around when the cover is unrolled. It als keeps it dark enough that you really need to look hard to see what I have in front of the hitch.

I bought a Trifecta like my BIL has... its a 3 fold unit that clips to the bed... I bought this brand because of one thing... my BIL after 8 years had a tear in his, and the manufacture warrantied them for life... they gave him a new one.. I usually keep a truck 8-10 years.. so I'm guessing down the road I'll look for a free replacement...
I did look at maybe 6 different ones.... couldn't believe that the BEST value on the brand I bought was Amazon Prime... by well over $100... than the vendor actually sent me an email requesting information about my truck to verify I'd ordered the correct one... and as soon as I replied they would ship mine....
I thought that was great service....

Welcome to the forum.
Our Rollbak g2 Tonneau cover works great on our 8Ft. The only issue is that we have a HD long MorRyde pin box that has a long enough reach that it (can) contact the bed rails inner edge under certain conditions. The G2 rails take up an additional 1.5" inside the bed. Being aware of this, it's manageable. No other complaints though. Very sturdy durable cover, would purchase it agian.
Be well.

As you all know most folding covers today are tri-fold. Installed one from Bakflip and didn't like the clearance; but I'm not saying it would be a problem with a fifth wheel hitch, did not have my hitch at that point. Send it back to Realtruck.com for full refund.
Looked into rollup covers and just didn't like them. They may be great but not for me.
I looked hard and finally found a 4-panel folding cover from Fold-a-Cover. My buddy had purchased one over 10 years ago and thought they were out of business, but they only sale form their factory and not with the usually truck accessory dealers.
The Fold-a-Cover works great with my Andersen 5th wheel hitch and my friends has a Reese hitch on his.

I've got a Fold A Cover on my truck. It has four panels, and sits on top of the rails, so it folds nicely and gives you another inch or so clearance. One added bonus - the front panel opens separately. It's not completely water proof, but pretty near. Nothing I had in it got wet in downpours, but there was some water intrusion in the corners. I haven't used any tonneau that was completely water proof, however much they may claim. I'm not sure if the shorter beds have four panels as well, but it's worth looking into.

I prefer a retractable metal tonneau. Had a RollBak G2 on our F250 - nothing but trouble! Went with a Roll n Lock on our '15 RAM Mega Cab and was pleased with it.
Had to trade the Mega Cab for a long bed when we traded our Lifestyle on a Mobile Suites. I haven't got a tonneau yet and unfortunately Roll n Lock doesn't make their all metal unit for a long bed RAM. I have pretty well settled on a Pace Edwards Full Metal Jack Rabbit, though.
Happy trails,

We have the Bakflip G2. Like having the tauneau cover on most of the time as it keeps the Trailersaver hitch out of the elements and when not towing and site seeing it keeps everything out of site. When we switched pin box to the Morryde the pinbox does come in contact very slightly with the cover, not enough to worry about though. Also can't see the hitch when hooking up but not worried about that either. If you decide to stay with travel trailer I would stick with a bed cap which would give alot more storage.

I really like what I see in this cover. I am putting an auxiliary fuel tank in my '02 Silverado dually long bed and need to be able to open just the front panel. I am confused a bit though as the spec sheet lists the G4 Elite (GM4901) as the correct model for my truck, but the installation sheet says that model won't work on duallys???? Guess when I am closer to pulling the trigger I'll have to give 'em a call.

I'd call or email them - before I purchased, I had some questions, and they were very quick about responding to email. I'm happy with the cover, have no reason to consider any other.

Yup, I'll email them. Interested in knowing what would make a DRW longbed different then a SRW. I assumed the dimensions were the same.
