I have 04 F-250 SD and tow 21 ft. Tahoe Lite TT. TT weighs in at 4400 lbs. Small 14 ft. aluminum boat and 15 HP motor and trailer weigh in at 500 lbs. I have reciever hitch on TT so all I need to do is rig lights. Does this sound safe or legal? I once saw a website here about the states rules on towing, does anyone know this site? Colorado is my State. Thanks

I tow a fifth and a small aluminum boat-works well for me.(factory hitch and wiring)I had a 17 foot travel trailer and 15 ft boat that I towed all over the state and that worked very good as well.I see multi connect towes quite often so I assume it must be still legal-I have not read up on new laws.Seems to me as long a weights are watched you should not have a problem, you should look into the regulations as things may have changed,Good luck fishing!

You really need to check Colorado law on this matter to be certain. First, towing double is not legal in all states. Second, in many states where it is legal, the first trailer must utilize a 5th wheel-type hitch. Third, state laws vary regarding overall length, brakes on 2nd trailer, etc.

With all respect, the reason I suggested that Gearhead Jo check with Colorado officials is that many of these summaries are either incorrect or out of date. The data cited for Texas is an example - the 60 MPH maximum speed limit has been obsolete for several years. The maximum speed limit for towing is now the same as for cars unless otherwise posted.

It may be legal, but not necessarily safe. You are looking at towing behind a Lite trailer. My concern would be the structural integrity of the frame on the TT to tow something behnd it. In my experiance, the frames on Lite trailers are not as sturdy as a regular trailer and I would be concerned about frame damage on the TT.
