Am just about ready to order a new fith wheel with disk brake system, elect over hydraulic. Was told today this type trailer brakes are not compatable with the Ford TowCommand System, thus requiring installation of a separate brake controler.

Anyone out there have this 5th wheel brake system and a ford truck with the TowCommand Sysem and if so how does it work.

Are you saying the electric braking system is not compatable with the Ford Tow Command? We have been trouble shooting our trailer brakes (electric) ever since we got our 06 Ford. What was your source?

ford tow command will run hydraulic electric disc brakes. if you are having an issue , take it in to ford and ask that the computer be uploaded with the new software to run electric over hyd discs. some trucks got it loaded from the start depending on build dates. either way its a free fix.

as far as standard electric trailer brakes, no brainer it should work. however i would suggest if your having issues take it and your traile rto ford and let warrnty see the problem .
mine works fantastic with no complaints
hope it helps

this being said ford has a disclaimer in both the 06 and 07 books about electric over hyd. however, push the issue because they have a software fix for it.

UPDATE
darn darn darn, it seems some at frod may or may not know the correct answer any more, My dealer said they can do it, bu ti calle danother one and was told no dice friend
so my advice would be call around and see what gives in your neck o the woods,
sorry for the confusion
