Looking for a TT & TV combo. The TV will be either a GM 1500 Reg cab, w/V6 or 4.8 V8 & auto trans (rated at about 5000#), or a Tacoma 5-speed manual trans (rated 3500#). Both these can be had for less than $15K, out the door & be good for everyday use. Is the a 18' or bigger TT, that will work for me? It's flat were I plan to travel, so no mountains to climb.

Don Rob, welcome....I'm new here too, but lots of info here.
I've got an '04 1500 with the 4.8......with 3:73's I'm rated for 6800 lbs. I pull a 28 foot trailer in the Northeast, and do very well.
Hope this helps.
BTW, our TT is 5800 lbs empty.

Wow, you really want to limit yourself don't you? Might be better off to check out a GM product 1500 with the 5.3L V8. You will get more power and in a lot of cases as good or better fuel economy as the larger motor does not need to work as hard. My company truck is a 1500 with the 5.3L and I can see 20MPH on the highway with the AC on. As far as pulling? No clue as I don't need to tow with it. However from the way it feels, a 5000 pound TT would bump right up to the limits of towing and trying to maintain legal speeds
