US made tow vehicle
Looking at one ton trucks, is Ford the only one made in USA?

That’s really a tricky question, because technically none of the “big three” are 100% manufactured in the USA. Not even Ford. It’s a global market these days. Heck, the Toyota Camry is more USA built (Kentucky) than most of the big three automobiles.
Someone need to explain that to our expert economist.

Ford trucks are assembled here. The PS 6.7 is from Mexico. Since it doesn't fall under the AALA there's no way to tell how much of the whole truck is imported.

Yep, after two Super Duties in the past three years, it looks like I may have to go back to Ram.

Too bad RAM are manufactured Mexico, shipped to US for final Assembly. Not liking the current Stiff Ride frames they are on, seeing numerous in the dealers around here for Frame Replacements as to Cracks, QUIET Recalls.

Easiest way to tell Country of Origin ins the VIN. Made in USA it will start with a "1". Mexican final assembly will start with a "3".
Ipurchased my truck used. It was 3 months old with 1,800 miles on it. I was truly concerned that I could be buying a problem. Did my due diligence. As it is now approaching 60K my only out of pocket actual repair was a wheel alignment.
It is a 2022 Sierra Denali 1500.

It's 2025 We are living in a global economy. The idea that a truck is made in America is outdated. is made in America and assembled in America the same thing? Is made in America and assembled in Mexico the same thing?
Is designed in America but manufactured elsewhere the same thing.
Is made in America the same as made in the USA?
If profits end up in USA is that the same as made in the USA?
If you initiate the process and pay to have a house built from the ground up. Did you build it or did the builder?

That's a very comical subject. Just buy whatever you decide to. It's a global world out there, even if some don't believe it.

A cabinet maker living in Indiana buys a load of special wood from Africa, stain from Canada, tools from Germany. Every thing used to construct the final product is foreign sourced. What is not is the labor and skills needed to cut, sand, glue, nail, stain the components to assemble the cabinet.
IMO the same holds for cars, but in the long run not sure I care.

Buy the one with the least recalls. If there is such a thing. Won't matter where it's built if it's in the shop.

I know the Cummins diesel engines are assembled in Columbus IN. I have been to the factory on a tour to see the manufacturing plant. Components are source from all of the world.
The 68RFE auto trans outside casting housing is made in IN last time I checked.
I think for the most part Mexico is just a Finish assembly plant and sheet metal stamping facility plus finish paint. With the remaining components resource thought the world.
Between my two sons and I, we own 5 Dodge/Ram trucks. Starting with a 1998 thru a 2022 Ram truck. Yes, they all ride like a pick-up truck and have stiff suspension, but I have never seen or heard of frame cracking on any 3/4- or 1-ton truck made by Dodge/Ram.
BTW I belong to Turbo Diesel Register, if frame cracking was apparent TDR would be all over that issue. Since 90% of us service our own trucks and not the dealers.
