WDH

Hi, been pulling travel trailers for years but recently got a new tt and truck. I opted to keep my old eazy lift 1,000 WDH because it’s still in spec with the new tt. My issue is that this truck sits a little higher at and the tt seems to sit a little lower than the ones I’ve owned in the past. I have the shank adjusted as low as it will go but with the camper and truck sitting on level ground the ball is about 5” higher than the coupler. I’ve not been able to find a shank that will adjust 4 or so inches lower. Does anyone have suggestions?

Is your truck really high? Like jacked up? Because it sounds odd there is so much of a difference in height.

What is the height of the top of the ball coupler on the trailer? And the top of the receiver on the truck?

there is a shank out there that will work for you. You didn't say how much it needs to drop or what size your receiver is but you shouldn't have a problem finding what you need.

I wouldn't be thrilled about having to use such an extended drop ball mount. I don't like the geometry of the truck moving a bit on its roll axis, and an extended drop mount acting like a giant pendulum swinging the trailer tongue back and forth.

This also tells me the truck is way too high off the ground for good control and stability.

Mine is just the opposite, had to use an extended shank to get the ball to the correct height, no issues when towing.

Fully agree, any 3/4 and 1 ton truck. A lot also depends on the trailer frame design.

You haven't looked hard enough, there are all kinds of shanks that will work.

There are many more from other manufacturers, they are all the same 2 inch square vertical bar and 3/4 holes spaced the same, Any shank will fit any head, pretty much.

Thanks Charles but Im not looking at all...Shanks for HD trucks are not 2", but Blue OX and probably all others have larger shanks as well..

Glad you feel comfortable with a non level trailer..
An inch or less lower trailer receiver hitch can have advantages, generally the closer to level the better..

There are many articles as well as youtube videos on subject of level towing.
