Wow - I had a 2012 F-450 that with full fuel (37.5 gallon) tank, my 50lbs of tools, hitch, blocks of wood and me in the truck weighed right at 9,000lbs.

5,000lbs on the front axle and 4,000 on the rear axle.

That extra fuel is heavy and makes a big difference.

my 2022 ram 3500, srw, longbed, Longhorn, 4x4. My door sticker says my payload is 4060. 12300-4060= 8240lbs without me in it. I rolled over a closed highway scale just the other day in it. With myself and wife in it we were 5250 front axle and rear axle 3325 well that is 8575. No hitch, no tool box bed was empty leaving remaining payload of 3725. The difference of 335 is about what the wife and I weigh.

Since then I have added a B&W gooseneck hitch to it so there is another 40ish lbs. Headache rack, toolbox and on board air on the way so there will be another say 250lbs added (counting the stuff in the toolbox). Throw in the B&W companion hitch say another 150lbs that adds up to another 440--450lbs dropping my real payload down to 3275 for the trailer and anything else I might be carrying in the truck for a camping trip.

Well you have 3,000# remaining before hitting GVWR, just about the 22% of 14,000#. Have you ever scaled with the 5er attached?

Well it all depends what one carries in the TV, you are a believer in go by axle weight rating. That is your choice, but it also puts you in legal limbo. Not likely to get pulled over and weighed, but if in a crash you could be the loosing end of a civil lawsuit. Stated many times in the towing guides, and owners manual, it is unsafe to exceed any of the vehicles weight ratings. While I was in that group for a time, I felt at 1,700# over my trucks GVWR, but still within the axle ratings, I didn't want the legal liability!

So Mike's example points out what many miss, that all the add-ons reduce the available payload. In Mike's case he use 1,156# with him DW and other stuff.

Personally our 2016 Ram 3500 has a GVWR of 14,000# and a sticker payload of 5,411#, well several trips over scales with me, DW, in-bed tool box, hitch, etc. we scale 10,000#, so we used 1,411# of our payload before hooking up the 5er.

I think even the new SRW trucks should not tow a 16k 5th wheel. That is likey to put you over you axle rating. And if not over it will out you very close. Too close IMHO.

My 19 Ram CTD 3500 CC LB 2wd has 4552 lbs for CCC. Certainly capable of towing 16,000 lbs.
Would I? Probably not but many do.

I think in your case the limiting factor for you would be rear axle rating. You might be able to exceed the rear axle rating, before exceeding the GVWR.

My Cummins is the standard output. For this towing weight the standard output is more than fine. The Aisin has greater capability and a much higher duty cycle. So get a SO and it can save some weight. I owned a 2018 HO and now this 2020 SO and this 2020 has 3.73 versus 3.42’s on the 2018. The 3.73 makes the truck seem more powerful with the SO.

I have thought about the GenY and I have the Anderson and I also have a B&W slider. I’m still getting comfortable w the Anderson. I got my Anderson at an auction. It is brand new. I paid less than half for it and decided to try it out. I may yet put a Reese goose box on the Coach. I had a FlexAir and I had it converted to a TrailAir to lower the front by 2 inches.

The GenY has way different measurements and I don’t think it’s been approved for all Coaches yet. I like the looks of it and spent some time looking at buying.

The one thing about the Reese I haven’t figured out is the goose ball length. You can adjust the height at the pin box connection and with different length gooseballs. Those things are expensive. I haven’t put enough time into it to determine if it works the way I want yet.

But If I don’t get comfortable w the Anderson I’m gonna switch to the Reese.

Also if you go 6.5 ft bed you’ll need a Coach made for a short bed or a slider. I used the slider all the time and still contacted the top of the cab on my 2018 Ram in the WalMart in Naples Florida. That place is not made for a long Coach.

I was in a very tight turn. The Coach wheels caught the curb and tilted the Coach into the top of the cab with a small crease. $1100 later it was fixed.

So I went w long bed and thought about dually a lot but I’m the end I like going through a car wash too much. I go through at least 2 times a week.

So my Coach has about a 4000 lb carrying capacity. I run 14,000 - 14500 lbs. I don’t see why I’d go to 16,300 lbs and carry around a bunch of stuff we don’t need. If we don’t have a reasonable use for it, after a year we move it out.
