What do you guys think of this setup?

I have a lady on Facebook who's arguing with me that this setup is safe. Now obviously I don't know the specs of the truck or the camper or boat but what do you think just based on this picture?

There is nothing wrong with pulling doubles, i did it with 2 bumper pulls for many years.

I dont have a problem with doubles, the questionable part to me is that theyre using a 1/2 ton to do it.

Well not likely, as the TV looks to be a Ram 1500. I sure would not want to be towing that with a 1500!

I see that all the time here in Florida during snowbird migration season and it isn't even legal here; but not with half-ton trucks.

Of course we don't have any specs, but from the size Of that 5er you would think the pin wgt is beyond the 1500s total payload

Look closely at truck rear squat.........not much so 5vr pin weight is within reason

I would not want to be behind, next to, nor in front of this set up.

We can't know the weights, but suspicion they are over on tow rating and payload. It is certainly a lot of squirrel to manage back there regardless.

Edit to add: Assuming the set up is under 65 feet, and weights are correct, it is legal in my state. I am guessing that set up is just under 65'?

65 feet is pretty common for the 20-25 states that allow triple tow with a 5er.

Not something I would do, legal or not. But, if it's legal...different joke for different folks! It I encountered that rig on the highway, I'd either want to get past it as quickly as I could if I could do so safely, or I would just slow down a bit and get a lot of distance between me and any possible situation.

Double tow, you don't count the vehicle, just the trailers. I double towed for many years F250 SB, 34' 5er and a 1,200 lb SXS on a 800 lb utility trailer. Had zero issues not even a flat tire in over 40,000 +- miles, in fact anyone who does it looks well ahead, keeps up on maint ect.

YES tow vehicle is included in the TOTAL Length

Some states limit the total length of all 3 units to 65 feet — in other states, the limit is 70 feet or 75 feet total length. In some states, triple towing is restricted to adding the second trailer only behind a 5th wheel trailer.

Not sure what in the world you are trying to say, but obviously double towed vehicle length includes all vehicles AND accessories eg, outboard motor, in the length calculation.

As to "looking ahead and keeping on maintenance" ... of course neither you nor I can tell what any stranger does in terms of maintenance or "looking ahead", but I can tell you that people that make poor decisions in one area are likely to repeat them in others.
