how critical is that 4.3 gears? I can find a few TV's but that gear ration is rare as hens teeth. (practicing my ole timer speak)

I'm not sure how rare it actually is... the local Ford dealer seemed to think it was unusual. I was kind of surprised it didn't show up in the VIN, but rather in the option codes on the load sticker on the door pillar.

Food for thought:

I know you listed a 35K budget. About a year ago, I asked the EXACT question you did. That was my budget as well, I had decided.

After research and contemplation, I ultimately ordered a 7.3 4.30 SuperDuty. Being able to spec it exactly how I wanted controlled costs. I paid under invoice.

I could not be happier with my tow rig decision. For a ~10K GVWR trailer, Godzilla makes a lot of sense.

3/4 ton 1 ton gasser the main thing to have to tow with a gas engine is rear gear if you don't have enough rear gear you're not going anywhere
