which gear to use Toy. Tundra S4, S5, S6
2020 Tundra towing 4000 lb travel trailer. Which gear is recommended. I have heard S4 or S5. Is there a speed range for those gears?
Thanks

What does your Owner's Manual say about towing?

Does your transmission have a tow/haul mode or something similar? That would be the best solution as it would find the right gear for the situation.

Thanks for your response. The Toyota manual reads S4 should be used for towing. That seems like a low gear for highway speeds.

Thanks for your response.
The trans. does have a tow/haul mode which I always use when towing. So should I leave it in D and tow/haul mode. That seems like it would be searching for gears frequently.

So the Toyota manual, written using information provided by the engineers who designed this truck, instruct you very specifically what to do, but you want to do something different based on... whatever, and then ask for advice from everyone else on this forum...

Well, I guess if the manual says to use S4, that's what you should use. It does seem weird that they would equip the transmission with a tow/haul mode and then basically bypass it by telling you to lock out the top two gears. But I have no direct experience with a Tundra, so I can't advise you further. Probably best to visit a Tundra forum and ask the question there.

Excuse me - I did not intend to upset you. t was not my intent to contradict the manual. I asked to hopefully obtain info. from more experienced persons.
