I had a 5th wheel and a dually truck and was trying to downsize. But as I look a buying a travel trailer I simply did not realize they even made them with 3 slides.

Started looking at a Winnebago mini plus 27 RBDS. That trailer is reasonable in my mind. From there I jumped to the Winnebago Mini Plus 30 RLSS. Then once looking at that trailer, that is where I am now. Did not mean to be here, but seems you can buy a whole lot of trailer and get good space for the $$$.

I know the places I will use the trailer. These big trailers will fit.

Anyone have a long 37 plus foot travel trailer?

How well do these trailers tow?
My trailer is 37 ft long (Laredo 330RL) 8,900 lbs max, with the second A/C in the bedroom, and my F-150 HDPP tows and handles it well with my Blue Ox Sway Pro. For me, the truck was the best combination for towing the trailer, and personal use available on the market.

As for wind, my comfort limits are 30 mph, one being the point where the lighter weight of the truck shows up, and the other being big rigs are having a rougher time than me. I think I'd stay off the road in high wind even if I had a larger truck.

Never experienced sway, tail wagging the dog, being pushed around, etc, but read and seen videos of it.

I am towing a Reflection 297RSTS which is 34' with a 2009 Tundra and handles really well. If I had a bigger truck would have went with the 315 that you are looking at. As it is I am at the limits of the truck.

Have a 1500lb Reese straightline dual cam hitch.

We tow an Outback 277RL which is 35', 10'5" high, weighing just under 9,000 lbs, with about a 1000 lb hitch weight with a Ford E-350 Super Duty one ton van. We use a Reese Pro Series SC hitch (similar to an Equalizer), and it tows fine. Like others have said, if it's blowing over 30 mph, it's best to sit it out.

Question - by towing fine, is that the same as towing comfortably and easy.

Easy to me was towing 5,500 lb. 26' trailer with a F-150.

Towing a 16,000lb 5th wheel with a dually truck.

My tow vehicle will now be a 2017 6.2 F-250.

Here is a couple of threads concerning long trailers you might want to consider. I have seen many long campers on Youtube wiping out, some even behind one ton duallys. You would want to use extra caution, or stay put on windy days.

I am towing a 40 foot fifth wheel with a Chevy 2500 Duramax (SRW) with 5 slides and it pulls just fine behind my truck. No swaying of the trailer. Getting use to backing the thing up is sometimes difficult in some parks but I make it work. What kind of truck are you going to pull with?

I have a gas F-250. But now I am am going to back off these big trailers for now and look at 30' - 34' trailers. I am not in a rush as I have a 29' trailer with 25' of living area already. Seems these big trailers make staying in them super nice as they are now designed exactly like a RL 5th wheel. I know they did not build trailers like this just 8 years ago.

Two things have me backing off now.

1. The furniture in the Grand Design 315 RLTS is not comfortable.

2. The size might be something I do not want to deal with.

Thanks for a the input and good luck in L your travels.
