Why me having problems with GM products
I believe someone has put a hex on me. I had a 2020 Silverado 3500 that couldn’t stay out of the shop and now I have a 2021 GMC 3500 DRW that’s beginning to have the same problem. The 2020 had injector problems and this 2021 3500 is having Nox sensor problems. Does anyone know if the truck can still be driven, I have a trip planned on Thursday.

That is ashame you are having a problem as those are really nice capable trucks. The payload on that dually has to be just over 5,000lbs. I describe the GM 2500/3500 trucks as being powerful and smooth. I like them as the redesign really upped the game. The factory hitch is a 20,000/2,000 lb weight carrying hitch. My 2017 Ford only has a 15,000/1,500 weight carrying hitch. I do not know what the new Ford's have.
I do like the IFS on the GM trucks too. That makes them ride smooth.

I would ask the dealer regarding its abilities with the Nox sensor issue.

All brands can and do have issues; luck of the draw. Hopefully it will be trouble free when you get this particular issue resolved.
Cheers,
Dave

Now the tech says the truck has not been in regeneration mode in over 4,000 miles. I just came back from a 2400 mile trip last week pulling my fifth wheel Cedar Creek. I went to Shipshewana IN and going I was going 70mph and coming back around 60. I don’t understand it. I have a trip planned for Myrtle Beach SC on Thursday I’m hoping I can still go

That truck should have gone through a Regen on that trip. The tech could be wrong if he is not reading something right.

I just watched a video that the trucks are made in Mexico. Do you remember the context of origin? I am hearing that is the problem.

I thought the GMC Sierra HD trucks we're made at the Ft. Wayne plant in Indiana?
I know the Chevy HD Silverados are made in Flint, MI and Oshawa, Canada - mine was built and shipped out of Oshawa.

Why would that be the problem? Most major manufacturers have plants in Mexico and have for years. Ford, GM, Toyota, BMW, etc. all build there. They have an excellent and well trained workforce in this area.

I talked to the technician this morning and he told me the computer was telling him the truck had never been in regin mode, it’s got 62,000 miles on the speed odometer. Then asked about where I was buying diesel fuel at. Normally at Walmart. The diesel that’s in the truck now came from Bucee’s in Sevierville TN. I’m beginning to wonder if he knows anymore than me. He is going to do a forced regin today and maybe I’ll get the truck then. If the check engine light comes on again I’ll take the truck back where I bought the truck at and ask to speak to the service manager

Today I’m told that the problem is injector’s. They are supposed to tell me how many injectors it is. In my 2020 Silverado it was injections and GM never fixed the problem. I hope this doesn’t happen again. They say I can drive the truck. I wanted to be on the road by now. GM paid me out of the 2020. Every injector was replaced on the 2020 and some 3 times. 8 injectors on this truck

8 injectors seems a lot to put in at one time. Oh well I took the girls to Myrtle Beach for a couple of days.

It sounds like the mechanic is just swapping parts without knowing the problem.
Go elsewhere for service. Not all diesel mechanics are equally trained.

from working at a dealer years ago GM has always had injector issues... On a side note do you let it sit and idle alot? anything with current emissions does not like to sit and idle it plugs up the sensors and filters. With the load your pulling and the distance it should clear itself out.
