I'm currently at Lazy Days outside Tampa Florida, and just traded my Fifth Wheel for a newer model.

I traded a 2000 34.5 Sportsman for a 2003 New Vision Ultra of the same size, both made by K-Z,Inc. I was checking tire pressure and found what I thought was low air pressure in all the tires. Further investigation revealed the tires on the rig were Load Range D tires. Max inflation 65 psi. Manufacturers sticker requires
80 psi cold inflation as does my previous unit. Load Range E Tires. Dealer tells me they came from the factory like that. The tires on the Ultra are 235x80x16 Goodyear Marathons.

Lazy Days is currently changing out the tires with new ones, with some help from me.

If you have a KZ built in 2003 you might want to check whats on your unit and see if the tires are the right ones.

This may or may not be a isolated incident.

Dave

Howdy "CoastalDav" & All Other KZ owners,
Please check those tires! We've had serious problems and several dealers working on a "fix" for going thru 11 tires in a few weeks or less!!!
The trailer is at the dealers now since May! KZ told us our trailer should have had 80 series tires on it, it came from the factory with 85 series! Apparently these make a diameter size difference as our trailer has less than an inch clearance between the tandem tires on 2002 Sportsmen TH w/one slide. Check your size and find out OEM tire size or else you may suffer difficulties! Mary

IronHorses,

It appears to me that the factory does not have a handle on the correct tire sizes for their own trailers. The 235x85 seris tires are 3/16" larger in diameter and width.

The 2003 New Vision Ultra I purchased, has been returned to the dealer and I have bought a new
35ft Carriage Compass. Its GVW is just a little more than the KZ at 14,100 or so. It was delivered with 235x80x16 Load Range D Goodyear
Marathons. I could not believe it. The Load Range E tires have just a little more carrying capacity than the D's but have two more plys of sidewall and bottoms.

The 235x80x16 can be found in Load Range E as that is want I ended up doing prior to giving the fver back to the dealer. The tire brand was Trailer King. Don't know who makes it. Been trying to find out. Had a set of Power Kings on my 93 Ford one ton dually, that really were good tires.

I've sent Carriage an e-mail asking about the tire size and load range on the new one.
