Hi everyone! new here and new to camping with something bigger than an Army tent or old pop-up.

We purchased a 2012 Keystone 281 BHS in great condition.
I had to replace the propane leak detector. Tried one that needed wiring, but the wires coming from the wall were too short and I couldnt get a new one connected, so just capped everything and tucked it back in the wall and got a plug-in type one instead.

NOW - the overhead lights on the slide-out portion don't work. (but the outlets, microwave, etc. all still work). I do NOT know if this is connected or not (have to think it is as they were fine before).

Any suggestions??? (I am not sure what wire goes where - and what to do w/ them now that I had to remove the old detector)

By plug-in detector, do you mean a 120 volt AC unit?

Your old one was likely a 12 volt DC unit that would have been working all the time.

With a 120 volt AC unit, you will only be protected while hooked to shore power or when using a genset.

Your lights are likely all 12 volt, and you may have disconnected the power supply to them when you were working on your detector.

it totally worked! just had to connect the correct 2 wires together (x2) and they kicked right on. Thanks so much

You are welcome. That's what this forum is all about, people helping others. Take a look at the unanswered posts once in a while. You may be able to help someone else in the future.

Now about that propane sensor, did you find a 12 volt one?
