That is a idea I have not seen before. With only silicon holding the 4-5" base molding material, how do you think it will hold up while driving?
On mine a 1/2" half round rubber seal was added to the metal lip on the backside of the bunk door to line up with the larger rubber seal attached in the bunk cavity. Mine would leak only if driving in heavy rain, so the extra half round did the trick. This only had to be done with the front bunk during it's warranty period.
Any hybrid owner should pay close attention to water leaks in the bunk doors, because water starts seeping in to the wood core, you don't want a problem down the line with rotted out bunk doors.
Were on our 2nd hybrid (
05' &
13') and if I remember the first one had the same water leak and fix.
