Lance 1575 question

We are considering downsizing quite a bit from our Entegra. After some health issues we find that we are not using it as much as before but we are not ready to quit camping altogether.

We are looking at a Lance 1575. We have a Ford F150 that would easily pull the Lance but we also have a 2020 Ford Escape (250 HP) which has a trailer weight capacity of 3500 and tongue weight 350.

Any opinions on pulling the Lance 1575 with the 2020 Escape?

Also any opinions on the Lance 1575 are appreciated.

Based on my experience towing two travel trailers, you don't want to be close to the maximum tow rating. I wouldn't tow the Lance with the Escape. It would probably pull it, but I think with gear loaded, you'll be pretty heavy and the towing experience may not be very good. In comparison, the F150 will tow it without "blinking" and you also have the advantage of the truck bed for carrying any extra stuff that you may want.

Before buying our Bay Star, we had downsized to a Winnebago Minnie 2201DS, which only had the dinette. For us, it was a mistake and we replaced the dinette with a nice Flexsteel Easy Bed couch. Consider how you like to use the "main room" and decide ahead of time if you want a dinette, or a comfy couch/recliners with a portable table for dining or when you need it.

We down sized from a Country Coach to a Lance 1995, and we absolutely love it. We line the back wall of the dinette with pillows and we can get very comfortable.

I’ll agree with using the F150, and you may want to consider a 1985, or a 1995, easy on the tongue weight, lots of floor space, optional fold out sofa under bed. The walk around full queen bed is a huge plus.

Not only is it less stress camping, but a whole lot less stress maintaining. Get the axels serviced once a year, and keep an eye on the tires is all we’ve done in three years.
