Advice on 21-28 ft TH

Son is looking for a quality built bumper pull TH in the 21-28 ft range for weekend use behind his '14 Ram 1500; 3.92 gears. Prefer fiberglass sides. The huge RV show is in Pomona this week so a good time to look. Seems all the TH's in that range are about the same, any ones better than others? Or any ones to avoid.

I don't know if a 1500 is enough truck, but I would seriously consider this 21':

Yes that is a nice one. I see here there are many that use huge TH's and he is looking for the small one. He will probably add about 2500 in RZR and gear so anything in the <6500 UVW area will be ok. He has 3.92's and E rated tires and has towed a rental unit that probably weighed 8K with no issues.

Went to a large RV show in Pomona and looked at several of the smaller TH units. They are all pretty much the same.

Can only cram so much into 21'.
Ram have light springs and only 5 lug wheels. They are not really meant for towing a 28' toy hauler.

I just bought a used 2006 Keystone Hobbi 220. It is rated 1/2 ton towable. Steel chassis, aluminium body frame, fiberglass exterior. With furniture folded/moved, the whole length can be used for toys. I like this because depending on what I put in it I can adjust the tongue weight. 50 gallons water, black & grey 30 each. I paid $9K. I didn't think I could buy a used cargo trailer and convert it for that much.

Cargo capacity is about 2,600 lbs, (I get different numbers from different sites).
This is the add for it, probably won't be up for long, (I take possession tomorrow). https://www.rvtrader.com/dealers/Joh...-220-120630590

What will kill you on a toy hauler is the tongue weight of 15-20% of GTWR (Gross Trailer Weight Rating). Many 1500 class trucks cannot handle that weight with an OEM receiver and some come close to RAWR if you also carry heavy items in the truck. I would focus more the actual tongue weight with batteries added and when filled with water and LPG than overall toy hauler weight. I think you will find the TW will be more limiting in your search for a match.
