Air Conditioner

I have a 2008 Weekend Warrior5th wheel toyhauler.Last summer we were camping at a lake with full hook ups but the power grid has not been up dated since the 70’s. Heard a poping sound from my A/C, the fan works but it does not cool. From what I’ve been reading it would be a good idea to go ahead and replace the unit. I have a Dometic 1500 btu with a wall thermostat,my question is are all these units have the same 4 bolt pattern or what else do I need to know so I don’t order the wrong one and then have to pay shipping to return it. I don’t want to take the old unit out till I get the new one. Any information on this would really be appreciated.

It's my understanding the mounting bolts are all standard. The inner plate(s) is what bolts into the outer unit...not bolted through the roof. Only diff is if you have a ducted system or straight flowing unit. Should be a 14" x 14" cutout and all bolts are connected within that cutout. The inner plate actually pulls down on the outer unit as you tighten bolts to seal it around edges. Of course, use lots of sealant on bottom of upper unit where it contacts (just lays on) roof.

THe mounting HOLE is standard, the bolts however. not always the pattern (Spacing) may be different.. I have two and they are different.

NOW that's the bad news Like some GOOD news.

Might be a 20 dollar fix on the old one (plus labor if you have it done)

THe POPPING noise might have been the motor start cap, if you remove the outer cover.. Well if the Cap Popped you will know it.

Or you can get professional help.

Now.. Is a good time to think about adding a Progressive Industries HW or PT 30 or 50 c to yoru RV (HW=Hard wired (Best) PT= Portable 30/50 depending on the RV. 30 amp gets a 30, you can guess what fits a 50)

I had a unit go out. Bought a mini split system and installed it. Best move made. Waiting for second one to go out and install another.
