Boy, what a deal, had my dish out playing with it in New Mexico and would you believe, a wind storm came up and blew the sucker over, with it tied down with stakes, thats along with hail but thats another long story. I've never got it to work right again. Put it up today and played around with it, it seems that one LNB won't pick up anything and the other will but only at a low signal, then when you touch the dual head, it loses the signal too, then gets it back again but the signal is always low, not where it used to be. I'm thinking its time for a new dish with LNB's, don't really know what else to do. I have the feeling that the dish is bent along with at least one LNB bad. Whole thing is a bad deal, time for a new dish and LNB's??? Thats my thought. By the way, its a dish 500.

It sure sounds like a bad LNB. I had one that was bad brand new from the factory, so it doesn't seem like they take a lot of abuse.

I've never had any luck with stakes. Either the ground is too soft, hard or rocky. I use a 5 gallon bucket weighed down with rocks or dirt and tied to the tripod with a bungee cord.

I thought about getting a roof mount, but we camp in the trees a lot and having the ability to put the dish up to 100' from the TH has come in handy. Good luck

Wes

Yeah, thats why I have to have mine portable. Too many trees to have one one the roof. I tell you, that sucker has been up in 60 MPH wind and never moved around here, I guess the soil out there isn't as good.

Tom,

Try Craig's List.... I'll bet you can replace it for $25 bucks. Next, I'd try be E-bay. Good luck.

Thanks guy's, Update: It was the dish. Replaced it, put my LNB's back on and it works like a charm. Guess the other one was bent, comparing the two it looks like the new one is flatter than the old one. Reminds me, think I'm gonna shop for a bullseye mount. Saw one at our campout last weekend, really looks neat.

Tom, I've been using a Bulls Eye mount now for about 3 years and never a problem. The dish stays were you put it.

I had one dish fall over and it bent the LNB arm enough it was usless.

Geesh Tom...too bad you're on Dish...I must have thrown away about 3 or 4 DirecTV dishes over the years...just always needed only the receiver! (That was back in the days when you had to buy the whole package).

What's this bullseye unit?

Need to find it cheaper? with the list of your toys I'm sure his price isn't going to change your lifestyle. I doubt the guy is making to much money on it already. Being in the MFG business myself, I'm a little sensitive to the cheaper mentality. For what it does and how much aggrevation is saves, it seems like it's already a good deal.

Maybe thats how I've been able to afford what I do have.
