Grand Design Momentum 395M

I saw one of these at the RV show and was pretty impressed with the floorplan and features it offered. Before I pull the trigger I wanted to ping y'all and see if there was anything I should be concerned about. I searched on the site and found most comments from 2017 or earlier so wanted to see if anybody had some newer info not they've been around for a while. $85K is a big purchase for us, so I want to choose wisely. Thanks in advance.

Don't have experience with a Momentum but am on my second GD product , new one being a Solitude. You may want to look at the Grand Design owners forum. Go in as a guest and lots of info from actual owners.
Good luck with your decision.

granddesignowners.com Owned by the same folks that own iRV2 and there's even a model specific area for Momentum.

We have a 2018 395M, coming up on 1 year of use. Can't believe you'd get one of these for $85K, that seems pretty low. Anyway, they aren't really built any different from any other RV. Same materials, suppliers, and so forth. For a while GD was touting their 3 year structural warranty as a big deal, but most people soon caught on to this as a gimmicky marketing tool. It really doesn't cover much of anything. Where GD is different, for most buyers, is in their warranty repairs. I've had a few issues with ours, some minor, some cosmetic, and they took care of everything with no fuss. When they repaired the rear bed that broke while I was traveling even my dealer service writer was impressed. They have gotten away from the Lippert axles and suspension, and have been using Dexter. Think the rear ramp door is also no longer a Lippert item. One thing for sure, they are heavy. Don't think I've seen one under 15,400. I came from an XLR Thunderbolt that was almost 2000 lbs. lighter. One thing I liked was that GD will give you the option of deleting the genset if you want, XLR wouldn't let me delete it. There are a lot of cabinets, but they are not very deep so storage is a pain, then there are the ones that are over the couch and Tv we need a step ladder to access. And there is basically no cabinet storage in the garage. The rear 1/2 bath is extremely small, great if you're using it for kids. All in all, wife loved this floor plan. Only one she ever liked more was a 2008 Raptor we had and that thing was a big piece of junk. Anything else you'd like specifics on, let me know.

Thanks Mike. Have you had any notable problems with it? Anything I should look for when I inspect prior to delivery? Thanks. again.

We didn't have anything major. At our PDI the oven didn't work and whoever unpacked the furniture gashed 2 of the seats. All repaired at dealer. While on our first long trip, the tiny little pin they use to support the rear seats sheared off. Whole one side of the bed fell down, crashed and bent frame. They fixed all of that, but lesson learned by me, I won't travel with the benches out anymore. Just drop them down against the walls. There is a lot of info on that GD owners forum. Main complaints seem to be with the axles. Some folks have had issues with the spring packs being weak and some had big problems with grease seals leaking because factory overloaded the cavity causing grease all over brakes. We have also had problems with the Lippert One Control. It's bells and whistles and you think it's going to be cool, but to me it's just another Lippert piece of junk. We are on our second one, and that one is failing too. And that thing controls the lights and awning- they do not have any switches mounted anywhere so you can do stuff manually. Speaking of the awnings- they are anything but. You can't leave them out in wind or rain!! I said to the guy- So it's just 3 big sun screens? and he says yup! We got the 3 season door with the patio deck and like that option too. Our warranty is up in about a month, so we're hoping to get out before that to go over everything again. Good Luck to you.

We have a 2016 Momentum purchased new in April 2016.

Only issues were both Lippert Components issues. We had a grease leak on the hub (which was a known issue for our year of Lippert axles - Lippert has since corrected that issue).

Second was a faulty seal on the Lippert hydraulic ram for the be main slide.

First issue was still under warranty the ram on the second issue was not.

So far we love our unit and would have no concern buying another Momentum.
