Install Splendide stackable washer/dryer

I purchased a washer & dryer to install into my Grand Design Momentum 395MSR. It's already set up for a washer, but how do I install the dryer. Leery about drilling holes to vent the dryer.

I installed a splendide combo a few years back, and I was nervous about drilling a 4 inch hole as well. But what I ended up doing was measuring on the dryer where the hole would need to be, drew a 4” hole on the inside of the RV wall, and drilled a small hole in the very center of that 4 inch hole, making sure not to go so far as to penetrate the outer skin. I then popped a bunch of similarly-shallow holes from that center hole to the outer marking, making sure that I didn’t hit any wall studs, plumbing, or anything else. So I had a 4 inch hole drawn on the wall full of quarter inch drill holes. Once I was sure it was safe to drill there, I then drilled the one center hole all the way through to the outside. Then I used a 4 inch hole saw, and drilled in word from the outside.

One way to do it, anyway. Good luck!

Dusty Driver - Thanks so much for your reply! That eases my mind a bit. How did you seal around the hole once you put the venting pipe in? Have you had any problems with water leaking in through the hole you cut?

I purchased a Splendide Dryer Vent Kit from Amazon. (Link below.) Kind of pricey, but it worked and looked nice from the outside. There’s probably a cheaper way to go. I caulked the insert that goes through the wall, and then I caulked around the skinny edge of the cover. It was pretty obvious where to caulk. I’m not aware of any leaks.

Some reviews of the kit were negative because of the short length of hose, but it worked in my case because Fleetwood provided an access port (through the kitchen counter) through which I could reach behind the dryer. Depending on your situation, you may need a longer hose. But any dryer vent hose will work.

Good luck with the project!
