Need Help on What Toy Hauler to Look for

Hi all,
I'm getting a bit overwhelmed and need some advice. Currently I have a Class C RV and an open trailer that I use to tow my spec miata race car. Most of our camping time is spent at race tracks with various levels of onsite amenities, but sometimes we do go to RV campgrounds as well, and may want to do a cross country trip sooner than later. My wife and I are looking to switch over to a tow behind toy hauler with a tow vehicle so that we can disconnect and take ourselves and the dogs into town and not have to worry about all the RV related access issues. We just bought a new Ram 3500 Dually with a 5th wheel hitch so we are pretty much able to tow anything you can throw at us.

So my question is, does anyone have recommendations for a good miata friendly toy hauler (car is physically 13 feet long, plus need room for tie downs)? We have only been able to find really 2 new models that seem to fit the bill (and the Stryker we still need to see in person).

Cruiser Stryker ST2816
Forest River RV Vengeance Rogue Armored VGF383G2

We would love to find an older used model if possible but it's a lot harder to know where to look. Any recommendations? And no we don't really want a finished trailer, we like having the plumbing/AC/beds and the option to dry camp out of it for a week or two here or there if needed.

Bonus question: Any opinions on 5th wheel vs bumper pull? We were at first looking all 5th wheel but we don't need a mansion and I don't like losing the truck bed where I can store my greasy nasty spare parts so we are on the fence there. It would also be nice if the RV wasn't so big we can't bring it anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

Needing to load and tie down a 13 foot car really limits your choice of toy haulers. As you know, a 10 foot garage is most common. A few 12 or 13's. Plus be sure you have the weight capacity to haul that Miata. Looks like you will need one of those rolling workshops with garage space that converts to living when you are set up. Hopefully you will get some suggestions on here. Good luck! Love the Miata racing. Have a friend that is an instructor at Sebring. Lots of really nice people that will do anything for a fellow racer.

Thanks!

Agree, certainly a limited selection but they do exist. Added another one to the list:

2022 FOREST RIVER XLR NITRO 28DK5

This one has a 17'6" garage!

Also i've found a few older models like some of the weekend warrior series and the Fleetwood Gearbox 300FS.

The thing with the race car miata is it only weighs 2200 lbs since it's stripped to sheet metal. It's not much heavier/bigger than a 4 seater UTV, the length is really the big sticking point. Hopefully others have models to add to the list!

Toy Hauler

Have you looked at the Nomad by Stealth?

https://www.stealthtrailer.com/rvs/nomad/

These are a bit utilitarian and have some 'rough edges' but they seem to be well built trailers. I believe Stealth has been making car and cargo trailers for a while and has recently, a few years, gone into the RV and toy hauler market.
I looked at one and did like the construction of the trailer but wanted some more creature comforts.

Wolfpack 365 pack 16 has a 15' 10" garage and a 4100# ccc.

Edit: I just now caught that you were leaning pull behind and that's a 5er.

Update. I went with the 2022 FOREST RIVER XLR NITRO 28DK5.

You can fit a miata in there with 3 inches to spare on each side! Only tricky part is it's tricky to get the car around the 3 season door. So I found you can put the car on garbage bags and shove it over to get really close.

Also the ride height is super tall (~34 inches) so I added a second set of ramps with a support in between the door ramp and the other ramps to make the effective ramp ~15 feet long but then it's in line with the slope on other low profile car trailers.

Make sure you buy rv that uses "azdel" in sidewall construction!!! Only certain brands use it and most dealers are clueless, so do your homework! Also look for the azdel sticker on wall by door. Dont buy unit without the azdel...they fall apart because of all the wood luan used in construction.
