Replace Awning Fabric

My Desert Fox SW-21 has some holes in the manual Awning fabric.

Is replacing the awning fabric only a big job?

In my winter RV park , I see lone installers ( ShadePro mobile ) come and replace someone's awning fabric every 2/3 days . 400 sites they're always some where in the park .
The awnings ; without aluminum guard wrap ; they are finished in an hour .
I've seen it done as a DIY in 2 1/2 hours .

Sturdy ladder , owners manual and patience .

Looking at youtube videos, it doesn't look too complicated. But you are definitely going to want to have a helper or 2.

I replaced my awning fabric a few years ago. I thought I'd be saving money getting a generic replacement fabric, turns out it wasn't inexpensive, it was cheap.
If I had to do it again, I'd go for the name brand material, not generic.
YMMV.

I have replaced dozens. It is not hard at all if you are the least bit mechanically inclined. Remember to remove the two screws that keep the fabric in place. I always cautioned my customers to take a file and round off the end of the awning rail. The fabric is tough but can be easily cut by a sharp end rail. Spray the rail with silicon to help with removal and installation.
You need at least two people. Three is best. One to thread the fabric. And one on each end.
