We are used to towing a 3500 lb pop-up, so I have a question.

Our question would be do we need a weight distribution hitch and /or sway control?

We have the Weight hitch from the pop-up , its rated at 600 lb tongue weight X 2 bars and 10,000 lb trailer weight. Trailer dry weight is 4709 ...GVW is 7875 ...dry hitch is 800. Tires are ST 205, 75R15 load range C

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Hey Kablewizard,

i have alot of friends who have trailers, everyone use swaybar, i wouldnt take the risk not having one when your trailer wants to sway...

Kablewizard. My thinking...When it comes to safety you can never go overboard. You can go out a 100 times and never have a problem, than there is always that 10% to borrow a military term you are familiar with, when you would be damm glad you added a safety feature that you were able to collect on that paid great dividends in a time of need!

Jim:

You will need to use the WD hitch. The receiver on your truck is only rated at 500-600 lbs dead weight (no WD bars, but is rated to about 1200 lbs with WD bars. I assume that the hitch weight of your trailer actually goes down when you load the garage.

Did you or are you getting the DF you were looking at? Your sig still shows the pop-up.

Jim, Griz is right on. Safety, safety, safety. It will give peace of mind and when that unexpected event occurs you will be prepared. Also I would go along with Wavemakers comment. My last TT('72 KenCraft) pulled like a dream and I never had a sway issue. I always had a Eazlift swaybar attached though. My reasoning was if I had an accident I din'nt want to give my insurance company the opportunity to say "You should have had a swaybar attached"

Happy Trails!! and Merry Chrisymas!
