UTV Rack?

We aren't toy hauler owners and up until last week, and after a week in Utah, I didn't think we'd ever need one. We boondocked in an area where a side by side would have been a nice addition to our experience. Since a toy hauler probably isn't going to be an addition to our driveway, I'd like to ask if anyone has first hand experience with UTV racks, like this one from Marlon? Our current TT has a gross of 5800 lbs so our SRW 3500 Duramax 4x4 has plenty of capacity for one of these racks but I know nothing about them.

I own the same Marlon rack. Originally I owned one RZR and a flatbed long enough for only one RZR. I bought a second X3 and bought the rack to take both. Thought was that if we bought another toy hauler I could do a tag, put one SXS in the toy hauler and the second on the rack. I ended up buying a trailer long enough to haul both SXSs without the rack. It hauls fine, and after a few miles of wondering if the truck would roll in a sweeping freeway corner, I became very comfortable driving it. The part I hate is climbing up to the front to secure the front tires.

You drive the SXS up, park and get out with your straps. Shimmy along the front side, balance on the 2x2 metal and then shimmy to the passenger side. If you are afraid of heights, or don't trust your ability to balance with your knees while you use both hands, this may not be the setup for you. What really got me thinking was what if I took a fall in the middle or nowhere, or my own driveway with everyone in the house. You're about as high off the ground as a single story roof.

The Marlon has attachment points to use tiedowns under the SXS if you choose, but getting under the loaded rack would be difficult. The tire straps also allow the SXS suspension to flex, which makes for a smoother ride in the truck.

You'll need some sort of hoist or forklift to remove the rack. It won't slide out like other models. The front foot is wider than the wheel wells, so it needs to go over the wheel wells. It's much better if you can leave it permanently in the truck.

Overall, I like the rack, and if I needed to take a tag trailer and SXS this would be my go to.

Some good info to consider. The older I get the easier I'd like life to be and shimmying on painted steal 8' above the ground is something I'll need to think about. Too bad they can't just be winched up and secured from underneath while standing in the open truck doors. Of course it's easy to design a rack from my couch, isn't it? lol I'll have to look at one of these in person.

Thank you for the detailed reply!
